I upgraded to a sea view room with a balcony last year Binkie. I was lucky because I was on the 7th floor right at the end of the hotel (the higher floor rooms have a better view), and I was right at the end of the hotel so had a good view. The balconies are small (well mine was, but private, or a lot more private than many I have had!).
The rooms at the front look out on the car park and then on to the main road. It is the main road to Opatija and pretty busy. I didn't hear too many people moaning about traffic noise though as you are not directly on the main road.
I went right at the end of September last year. The weather for the first couple of days was fairly bright, but humid, but then we had a terrific thunderstorm at night and it got very sunny and quite hot after that. I would definitely take an umbrella! I hope you are lucky!
If you want a nicer walk than going along the main road into Lovran (and avoiding the hill coming back), go down on the lift as far as the pool bar, through the gardens, and down to the Lungomare. Turn right and follow the path to Lovran. Turn left and you can walk along by the sea into Opatija if you have the stamina. 🙂
