Was asked the question at the weekend what the weather will be like when I do the Blues Highway Holiday "Route 61" (Americas Heart and Soul) in November.

In fact it was put to me why I've booked in the colder part of the year. So I decided to check the average tempretures and they are not as cold as the person asking thought.

So for information to others on the trip this is what I found :-

Obviously Chicago will be the coldest but in early November can still get up to the mid 50's farenheight during the day dropping off to just above 40 at night. Records indicate we are very unlikely to see anything down to freezing, Chicago temps don't really nose dive until december.

St Louis may touch 60 during the day but be similar to Chicago at night.

Memphis, now we should be hitting mid 60's and not so cold at night, not much below 50.

New Orleans we'll need our shorts as day time tempretures will be into the 70's.

And going in November means we are at minimal risk of been effected by hurricanes (season is June to October with September the worst month). The last two times New Orleans was evacuated 2005 & 2008 (Katrina & Gustav) it was in September. Both times i was going to NO and had to be relocated and wasn't going to take the risk again.

Hi Sue,

Remember you giving support to get this trip on the agenda, pleased you are on the same one as me will be good to meet you.

Looks like a few Blues fans among us judging by other posts on here and emails i've recieved, will certainly be planning to visit a few live Clubs.

Not sure where you are travelling from but I know of at least 4 of us that are staying over at heathrow the night before and will be meeting up for a meal.

I'm at the Park Inn (think some of the others are aswell) and the pub over the road is good for a meet up meal (done same on last few hols from heathrow).

Anyone interested the Park Inn currently has a £15 discount for early bookings (cost £60 instead of £75) on their own website.

Hello Mick and Sue,

Remember hurricane Gustave well, could not see the alligator swamp tour due to the flooding. Hurricane Ike was even better! One of the reasons why I have booked the November tour !

I was looking at Park Inn and it would cost £105 with 15 days parking and the night stay- very reasonable. Not sure now about getting National coach up now :P

Just over 5 months and counting

Looks as though the shorts will be coming out Mick? :)

Have a great time!!

Looks as though I might be heading down Heathrow again too, but it will be end of September if I am.

Hi Jan,

Just over 5 months, reckon I'm on countdown already. Looking forward to this trip so much despite having other things arranged between now and november.

Tipped another person off the other day that you can get a room at the Park Inn for £60 from the hotels website a saving of £15 (of course that doesn't include parking). Check the Renaisance aswell have had deal with parking there in the past and its just across the road from the Park Inn.

The shorts will be getting a run out no danger (probably in Chicago).

Say hi to Lake Michigan for me. 😛 Am sort of booked for Portugal but not sure if it is going to be 22nd or 29th Sept yet. Awaiting definite confirmation tomorrow. Heathrow of course!
