Hi

I am 45 and looking to book my first solo holiday after 20 years of travelling with someone. Tuscany is the one which I fancy doing.

Really nervous about doing it.

What's the normal age range and are people friendly? Don't fancy being left to my own company abroad.

Thanks

S 😕

Sharon

great choice for a tour, I went on this a few years ago, don't worry you will not be on your own unless you want/need to.

this is a great tour as it's not to far and it's not to hectic so a good balance of things to do but not being on the go all the time.

A nice hotel but be warned the room vary, I was in one that looked out to the beach but it was so small, but it's only to wash and sleep in for a week so I just got on with it, others had really big rooms it's the luck of the draw, there is a lift, and a nice sun terrace at the very top. the only tour I did not do was Elba? Perhaps as I am not a lover of boats! but I spent a very pleasant few hours in the local town (short walk away) and had a few hours on the sun terrace.

I am sure I would of put a review up in the review section so have a look and see what others have said. if I can help with anything else then please just ask.

Hi Sharon,

I am booked to go on the Tuscany tour on 15th May, I love Italy, also this will be my third holiday abroad with JY in 12 months, another booked for Later in the Year. Ages can range from early 20s to 80s everyone is on holiday to have a good time, you will not be on your own. There is always someone to talk to or have meals with, or on your own if you wish.

Thanks Cindy and Rosie. I will take the plunge.

If it goes ok I am looking at the short Istanbul break later in the year 🙂

Appreciate your support

Hi there. I went to Tuscany in October last year. Smashing hotel, not much doing in the town, but it was out of season. The hotel is what you would class small and friendly. I had enough room in my room, everything in it I needed, although it was fairly basic. Very good food, great bar measures  and a very friendly and welcoming staff.

I enjoyed the trips, and took one of the optional trips to Elba which was a very restful day. I spent part of a day walking in the local pine woods.

The weather sadly for most of the time wasn't that kind to us. We did have some sunshiny days though.

I think the trip represents very good value for money.

Hi Sharon

I am glad you have booked your first trip to Tuscany. Now forget the nerves and get ready to enjoy yourself. You will have a great time. No fear of being on your own unless you choose to be.

Regards

Jaya

Hi Sharon,

Like most people who travel with JY I felt really nervous before I went on my first trip last year. Another member and I used the forum to arrange to meet for lunch at Gatwick and that really helped to break the ice. In fact, we have stayed friends and, along with someone else we met, have arranged to go for a short break in March. I haven't abandoned JY and hope to go somewhere with them in the autumn.

Have a lovely holiday.

Hi Sharon,

I have just booked my first JY holiday, Highlights of Tuscany, I'm going on the 12th June. Like you I'm a little apprehensive. I will be 50 when I go (really don't feel it though) and it will be my first time traveling alone. Simply I made the decision to go alone because usually I travel with friends and always end up doing what they want to do. So it will be a new experience for me too......go on ...give it ago.
