Hi,

Have just booked up for this holiday and wondered if anyone else is going or only "Just Me".

Went on the Egypt / Nile Cruise last October and was totally gobsmacked so am really looking forward to this.

Hi

I've just booked this trip. Went to Libya last November and didn't think I could face lots of travelling around again ('though Libya Is a great place to visit)but here I am!

I went on the Jordan/Egypt trip in March, first holiday with Just You.

Petra in Jordan was the highlight. Dead Sea was too rough to go in and nothing to do there for the 3 hours, apart from wait to get back on the coach.

Egypt was main reason I went, overall it was pretty good. And not too many early mornings on the trip.

Highlight overall was to start off in Amman and travel all the way through Jordan, then start off on coast of Egypt travelling to Cairo (8 hours on coach) but few stops on the way.

Hi

What did you do about currency for Jordan and Egypt? Eg did you get dollars and use them for both, or change sterling locally?

Thanks

Sharon

Last year, for Egypt, I took a minimal amount (£200 worth) of Egyptian LE just to cover incidentals such as baksheesh, snacks, drinks and the odd souvenir or two. I'll probably do the same this year with LE & Jordanian Dinars with the bulk of my spendies in Dollars & Sterling both of which are widely accepted.

Reccomended to steer clear of travellers cheques as very few shops / hotels are willing to cash or accept them and bank opening times are whimsical to say the least.

Egyptian money is filthy so pack some Hygenic Hand Gel unless you want to be laid up with "Tut's Tummy".

Thanks. Think Tut's tummy is part of the experience isn't it? I think I'll take dollars though. In Libya the opportunity to change currency was rare, but expect more availability in Jordan & Egypt as more used to tourists.

One word of warning, if you go on the Nile Cruise the 'optional' tour be very careful what you eat on the food front. It's a buffet pre-prepared and the food is heated up. Quite a few on the trip had upset stomachs that evening and the next day, not ideal when you are travelling on a coach!

And as for the 'antiseptic' hand wipes for money I didnt use for that, but would certainly suggest taking those and tissues for the loos, as hardly any of them had loo paper in and the condition was not that great. Plus, you will need to pay a few EGP to use them so useful to get some notes changed up fairly quickly on arrival.
