Can anyone who has been on Kenya Safari holiday tell me, where, what are they called and how much they paid for Maleria Tablets. I went to my Doctors yesterday about all the JABS I need, and they said I would need a private prescription which I have to pay them for and then I have to pay a fair amount of money at the chemist??

So please if anyone has some concrete advise I would very much appriciate it..

Hi. I went on the Kenya trip last year. The best anti-malaria pills to get are Malarone. You have to get the prescription from the doctor, but if you order the actual pills online at travelpharm.com, they are the cheapest (so I have found). You have to send the prescription to them, but I have used them a few times and they are totally reliable (you will have to sign for them on delivery). Hope this helps and have a brilliant time - we did!

HI CINDY, I HAVE BEEN TO KENYA 12 TIMES, AND WHAT YOUR DOCTOR IS SAYING IS RIGHT. FOR A 14 DAY HOLIDAY IT WILL COST YOU ABOUT £65-70. I KNOW IT IS ALOT OF MONEY, BUT IT IS WORTH DOING. HOPE YOU HAVE A NICE TIME AS IT IS A LOVELY COUNTRY.

Hi Cindy,

I have just come back from the South African Explorer & needed Malaria tablets. Yes, you need a private prescription then my

G.P.s nurse told me the best price is with

www.travel.pharm.com - tel. 0115 951 2092.

Ring them first & they'll tell you to send the money with the prescription to them, they send them almost by return. I needed 12 Malerone which you take for 2 days before entering the Malarious zone, all the time you're there & for a week after your return. They say its best to take them in the evening as with some people they can get the runs & if that happens at least you can deal with yourself at night rather than out in a jeep! I paid £27 & that's by far better than the High Street shops. Hope this helps & have a great time!

I went last year it's a great holiday, I had maladrone tablets cost £50, went to GP 2 days before I was going and they got the tablets for me so I just dropped in paid the cash and picked up the tablets. You can get them for approx £2.50 a tablet but you do need a pescription.

Hi Ex President Nixon!!

Glad you found the info useful- they are a totally legit firm - Travelpharm - dont think you're getting funny fake pille - my tips were from a reliaable source, the GPs surgery.

Enjoy yourself! I go off to Vietnam & Cambodia with Solos next Monday - mad, packing the lightest!

I've got mine from Boots the Chemist without a presciption last year(my doctor said I didn't need one) and price was very reasonable. Can't remember exactly how much but it was about £20

Hi Nixon

There are three types of Malaria tablets and each varies in price. If you buy the cheapest you need to take them for longer and has side effects, the middle range you take for less time and has less side effects. The more expensive ones you take for the least amount of time and has virtually no side effects. It's worth going for the more expensive ones and if you go google Stratford Pharmacy you will find they probably have the best prices. You will need a private prescription which you can send to them. Unfortunately I can't remember the name but they will keep you right.

Hope you have a good trip.

Regards
