Good morning all,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend - did you do anything nice?

You may have seen that Just You will be heading back to Antarctica in 2018 with some fantastic expeditions, so for today's Monday Musing, we thought we'd ask - what has been your most extreme adventure or experience.

I find my weekly food shop on a Saturday morning can be quite an adventure - but I'm sure you can all come up with something more exciting!

I look forward to hearing of your experiences.

Kindest regards,

Julia

My first long haul holiday to Peru in 2009 is high on the list but I think it was topped by last Christmas/ New Year cruise to Antarctica and the Falklands - fantastic scenery, lots of whales and fabulous weather.

Most extreme has to be in February 2013 on a day trip to Lapland. Driving 6 huskies for an hour was both exhilarating and shattering. We were supposed to drive for half an hour, the elderly lady sitting in the sled thought better of it, so I did her share. They gave us extra insurance as some of us only had travel insurance as passengers. Out of six sleds, I was the only woman. One man was thrown from the sled as he was not holding on 😃

My extreme will sound boring compared to Peter and Jan. Microlight in Zambia and zip line in Costa Rica.

Hi Julia

i'll go for the Zip line in Costa Rica, def an extreme adventure or experience, second to this I would say were the Hanging bridges in the Peruvian Jungle, these bridges were def more daunting than the ones in CR Arenal which I found much more sturdy than the ones in the amazon and much less terrifying

Hello Jaya and Dave,

I think a zip line in Costa Rica trumps my husky sled 😃

Hi.  I guess a visit to the polar bears in Churchill takes some beating; then I remember the helicopter over the Niagra Falls; a day trip to Greenlands icebergs whilst on a tour in Iceland; the whole Rocky Mountains experience.  Also I love our very own London Eye!

Hi Julia,

Likewise, my local supermarket is an adventure sometimes also :)

For me, my first real adventure was white water rafting down the Colorado river through the Grand Canyon. I started off completely out of my comfort zone but by the end of the holiday I was loving every minute of it, including bathing in the freezing river water!! I would never have believed it could be 90 degrees in the sun and minus 20 in the water!! I saw parts of the Grand Canyon that lots of people never get to see. There were amazing places to explore as we travelled down the river. We also slept out under the stars every night except for the first night when it snowed!! Experiencing rapids from Grand 1 to 10 is so exhilarating its like being on a mini roller-coaster. I was also lucky enough to be able to do a flight over the Grand Canyon afterwards following part of the river we have travelled down. An Amazing experience which will never be forgotten.
