After a wonderful week in beautiful Tuscany, my top tips would be to take a light raincoat or an umbrella to keep with you on your excursions and also take a bottle of water with you on the guided tours.
The musical tour which is available on the Lucca excursion is, in my opinion, a NOT TO MISS one. It has to be one of the best but it is a long one without a break and since it entails quite a lot of walking, one tend to become very thirsty.
