Hi All

I'm off to Cambodia, Laos & Vietnam in November- I know it's still quite a way off but I'm just working through the things I need to think about.......

Anyone that's been on this trip before - did you take Malaria tablets?

I keep looking at the Malaria maps and there are some areas they are recommended to take but I'm not sure how close we will actually be to those areas.

Any advice from someone that has been would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Paula

Hi Paula

I did this trip last November, I took the malaria tablets from the chemist, I didn't get a single bite but I did use jungle formula repellent, a lot of us did get a bad tummy upset so just be aware of that too. You are so lucky, I loved this trip, it was my first solo holiday and I will never forget the amazing time I had. Borneo next year!

You need to speak to a pharmacist. I went on this trip in February and did not need to take malaria tablets but things can change and you need to check for yourself. You  also need to contact your surgery to ask about inoculation.

The good part is that it was a really fantastic trip. I have been on about 15 singles holidays and this was certainly one of the best. Feel free to ask if there's anything you  want to know.

Hi Paula

I am going in November and not taking an anti malarials.  From what I can see we are not going to any high risk areas - will have plenty of mossie spray tho!!

Thanks Mo. I'm really looking forward to it.

I seem to get bitten where ever I go and no matter how much repellent I use but will definitely be taking plenty with.

I did Borneo last year as my second JY trip - it was amazing, you will have a fantastic time.

Thanks David.  Glad to hear it's a good trip, I'm really looking forward to it. I may be picking your brains in the near future. ?

I have spoken to the nurse about Malaria tablets, we tried overlaying the trip route and Malaria maps and the outcome was not definitive, so seems to be my choice, hence wondering what others did. I think I'm covered for other inoculations, think I had every thing before my first JY trip to Kenya 18mths ago.

I visited Vietnam with my family in last October. We didn't carry any kind of Malaria tablets. I don't think so that there is any need of malaria tablets in your trip but you can carry..
