Hi Davina, I'm not going to be much help on this one either except to say that I imagine tea bags might be all right, but most countries seem to have an embargo on importing foodstuffs these days. I love chocolate too but to be honest I never miss it when I'm on long haul tours as there are too many new things to eat!!

Hope you get a proper answer soon, or else just google it and see what comes up.

All the best,

Bob

Why not? I take chamomile tea bags wherever I go on holiday

(although taking "tea to China" is a bit ironic!)

Maybe pack them in your checked-in suitcase, rather than hand luggage.

Hi Davina,

When I went to China in 2010 I packed tea bags in my hold luggage without any problem. I could not face being without 'normal' tea for 16 days. All the hotels used on our tour had kettles in the rooms, so you don't need to take a travel one. You will have a great holiday.

Trish.

Hi Davina,

I haven`t been to China, but it might be worth checking online/calling the airline you`re travelling with to see what their specific restrictions are?

Could be that there is a list of `forbidden` products, but I would like to think tea and chocolate are innocent enough...

Good luck, and perhaps you would post a reply when you find out?

Best Wishes

Don't see why not. All the tea we had whilst in China was green tea and the coffee satchets in all the hotel rooms were the "complete" stuff and I don't take sugar.

By the way, every hotel we stayed in supplied us with soap, toothpaste, tooth brush, shampoo, body wash, conditioner and/or body lotion, a little sewing kit, comb and a pack containing cotton buds and cotton swabs. Do take loo paper with you along with hand sanitizer for whilst out and about. Loo paper isn't in all loos, some places we were handed a sheet, others had a roll outside!

You'll love it.

Hi Sonia,

Thank you sooo much for the information. I am off to China on 22nd May and these tips are very helpful. Like you, I don't take sugar in coffee due to being a diabetic and so I will remember tgo pack sachets of coffee in my booked in luggage.

I am getting in a supply of toilet paper and hand wash!!

Not sure about the tea bags but you can carry chocolates, my brother been there for several times during his PhD. He used to take chocolates and also wafer biscuits.
