This was a lovely break despite cool weather for the time of year, but we had a brilliant Tour Manager, Jackie and despite it being a large group of 42, we all got on and had a great time together.  I opted out of the Granada trip, but enjoyed all the others.  The Hotel was fine and there were several nationalities staying there, such as Dutch, Scandinavians and Chinese.  Entertainment was a bit short as we only had one event laid on by the hotel itself, but we arranged a Karoake one night and it went really well, (until some of the Chinese complained about us after 11 pm, when we had to turn the volume down).  The hotel had an 'all in one machine' which also provided background music to our dancing on other nights and along with walking up and down all the hills and my 'stuck in the 1980's' disco dancing I actually lost weight upon my return, ( I'm at Slimming World).  Everyone joined in, (including other nationalities),  and it was a great atmosphere.  I always love meeting people from all over the UK as I don't very often get the chance. Food was adequate but had to appeal to all tastes/nationalities. However, it filled us up.  The area is quite stunning and those white villages are gorgeous.  Mijas itself is also a lovely town, with donkey taxis everywhere, and it is so much better than when I was last there 20 years ago. At that time the donkeys were treated really badly, but now they  are under veterinary care because of  EU legislation.  The footpaths are also much better, but as the streets are narrow, we had to be careful of oncoming traffic. We all enjoyed the 'make your own' chocolate factory.  I got lost on my way back the the hotel the first time, but it really is a short walk into town and I am hopeless at directions anyway, so after that I made sure I went into the centre with some of the others. The views from the gardens near the church are spectacular, as is Ronda and Fragiliana.  The flight back was delayed on its incoming leg by fog in London earlier that morning, but Malaga airport had enough facilities to keep us busy during our extended stay, (2hrs 20 mins) and Jackie flew back with us anyway.  All in all, it was a fantastic week!

Hi Mike

I too did this trip in 2010, but had to miss the Ronda trip due to not feeling too good. I would love to go back some day. Like you, I too got lost one day coming back from the centre of the town after dinner. I also do not have any sense of direction! I did eventually find my way back - I felt quite safe even though it was very late at night.

Kind regards

Jaya

Hello Mike,

Glad to hear that you had a good time and actually lost weight. I have never known me to come back from a JY holiday without a couple of extra pounds

Hi Mike

Yes, it really was a good holiday with great company.  Such a beautiful area of Spain - so picturesque and traditional. What??? You lost weight with all that cheese! Ha ha. Unfortunately I gained half a stone despite all the walking and dancing! Back on the SW plan now as my next JY holiday is in 8 weeks time.  May see you again sometime on another JY holiday. Carol

Thanks Carol and everyone who replied to this. .  I only lost half a pound  actually, but  I was still pleased that I'd lost anything at all despite, as you said, all that cheese and biscuits! Hope we bump into each other again sometime too.  My next JY one is 5th Sept in Crete.
