Really loved this trip. It was tiring, but worth it as we visited so many interesting places. Never thought I'd be interested in Space travel, but after going to the Kennedy Space Centre, I am hooked! Sharon, the guide, was great and looked after us from dawn until dusk. I was able to meet up with American friends along the way and it all went smoothly. The Ringling Museum, (Circus), was also fascinating along with the Edison laboratory and house and Miami Beach was beautiful. Key West was great but just sad we saw so much hurricane damage on the way. We all felt so sorry for those affected. The boat trip in Fort Lauderdale was lovely too, - all those mansions. Hotels were comfortable and air conditioned but breakfasts were a bit 'strange' for English tastes, especially as they called thin burgers, (with no buns), sausages, and scones 'biscuits'. All very confusing, but we adapted within a few days. Weather was wonderful at 27c/85f throughout and from now on I shall go to Florida in November instead of the Canaries, which although warmer than England, only gets up to about 21c! According to our driver we covered 1,300 miles in 10 days and stayed in 6 hotels, (7 if you include the Premier Inn at Gatwick). I wasn't impressed with BA by they way, even though I'd upgraded to Premier Economy, but that is not JY's fault.
BA seem to insist on keeping their new Dreamliners for the West Indies/Mexico only, but mainland America is still served by 20 year old planes with grumpy staff and useless entertainment units! Half of our group flew in on Virgin from Manchester and had a wonderful flight with wonderful service, even in economy, so as Virgin also fly to Orlando from Gatwick, I suggest JY uses them from now on. However, it was a wonderful holiday and I highly recommend it.
