Hi Mike, I imagine that JY already 'Road-test" the hotels they use.  However I know from personal experience, that a lot can happen between the time you check out a hotel to the time you use it.  All of which is often out of your control.   You also have to take into account people's personalities and expectations... I bet there were some people on the same holiday that didn't have any issues... and would rate it higher.

Hi Kezzer,

There were 24 people on this holiday, none of them rated the hotel 4*, everybody was affected by the rude attitude of the staff, from manager down, and they all had "issues"... You can check out some of the postings on TripAdvisor, some of them posted their negative reviews of the hotel there.

Not everybody uses the JY Forum, but they will all fill out their Questionnaire in due course and I'm sure they will all point out the shortcomings of the hotel and staff. My expectations were certainly a little bit higher than being relegated to the "attic" and its gloomy staff quarters, but even some who paid extra for sea view rooms, weren't entirely satisfied.

I have not criticised the holiday itinerary, it took us through beautiful places, but for me personally it became an ordeal for reasons I spelled out in my review.

Hi Deva

I did this trip in June 2015 and absolutely loved it......except for the hotel!! It was not the Parigi and wasn't as bad as your experience but for me it was the only downside to the holiday. Our group's main issues were the quality of the food which was very poor and the noise issues. Like yourself our hotel was very close to the railway and we were disturbed by early morning trains! The hotel staff however were lovely. The word going around at the time was that JY would be moving to another hotel because the hotel no longer wished to accommodate groups. I've done several JY holidays and it probably was the lowest standard hotel I've stayed in with them. But it sounds like it went from bad to utterly appalling!! We also had Freddie who was tremendous! As you say always goes the extra mile.

Don't be put off but it might be as well in the future to contact the hotel you're booked with a couple of days before by email saying it's your first visit and requesting the type of room you'd like  (comfortable, nice view etc). I've found it works for me.
