I've just returned from the Cilento Coast and had a wonderful time.
The Hotel Approdo is in a lovely position, situated right on the harbour of a beautiful fishing village. All the rooms had either views of the harbour, pool/beach or both. The rooms were very large - my room could have slept a family of 4 - all with balconies.
The hotel itself was always very clean with lots of comfortable seating areas.
The pool was quite small but adequate for the number of people at the hotel, and there were plenty of loungers. There were also loungers on the beach. The sea was shingly, so if you're planning on going for a swim maybe take a pair of suitable shoes.
The spa is well worth a visit and was amazing with lots of facilities, i.e. salt and seaweed rooms, sauna, steam room, thalassotherapy pool (with a lot of jets) and an outside pool. There were also relaxation areas with fruit teas, fruit etc.
The local bus ran from just outside the hotel and went to the next, larger, town of S. Maria de Castellabate and also the hill town of Castellabate. A bargain at 1 euro each way.
You could also walk into S. Maria de Castellabate along the path and beach, which took about 40 mins.
This is a beautiful unspoilt area of Italy and well worth a visit. .
I personally didn't do all the excursions because I wanted to take advantage of the local area and the local restaurants which, had I taken part in an excursion every day I couldn't have done. For instance, there is a wonderful restaurant in the piazza next to the church - well worth a visit for lunch.
I would recommend this trip to anyone looking for somewhere a bit different - away from the hustle and bustle of a larger, more 'touristy' area.
