I was interested to read on the website that JY are going back to using Barcelo Punta Umbria hotel for later departures this year for Costa de la Luz.  Is there a reason for this and do JY have any plans to return there next year?

Normally there are several reviews for this holiday during the year, but I haven't seen any this year.  Are JY getting decent feedback please?

We used a few different hotels in 2019 purely due to availability.

For 2020 the Barcelo Punta Umbria Beach Resort is our preferred choice 🙂

But now I AM confused!  

I am aware that JY switched to the use of 2 different hotels this year.  The reason given that the Barcelo Punta Umbria Mar was closed for redevelopment.  JY have, as you know used this hotel for a few years. I've stayed in it myself twice and have found it very satisfactory.  

The other Barcelo hotel in Punta Umbria is Barcelo Beach resort, which is not directly on the beach, and is HUGE, more geared up for families.  

On the website currently, the hotel being shown for next year is a Sentido hotel further down the coast.  

Which hotel is correct please for next year?  I think the reason I was given originally for the change of hotel, was the closure of the Barcelo Mar for refurbishment over the winter, and that it was going to become a 5 star hotel.  There is no indication of this on TA.  

Sorry to be a pain, but it is a little confusing.

I have spoken with our product team and the correct hotel for 2020 dates is the Barcelo Punta Umbria beach resort :)

I can see that the website still says the Sentido, which I have raised with our web team to look into 🙂

Thanks for your reply Jamie.  I am pleased that you have made the website team aware that the information on there needs to be changed.  

The hotel is very large, so it's doubtful that I would return, although I do like the AI concept.  Too much of a family focused hotel for me though.

The web team have changed the page, which is mighty speedy of them.   🙂 

However they have changed it to Barcelo Punta Umbria Mar, which JY have used very successfully for some years, NOT Barcelo Punta Umbria Beach Resort.

Sorry for the delay. Unfortunately this is a brochure error, the correct hotel is the Barcelo Punta Umbria Mar - so hopefully this is better for you 🙂

As a matter of interest Vickie, we were told that the hotel was closing down last winter for a total refurbishment.  Hence the reason why JY did not use it in 2019.  Did this happen after all do you know?  It would be interesting to find out if the bathrooms have been refurbished at least!

Yes, the hotel has been refurbished in the restaurant, spa cabins and the gym 🙂

The impression we were given was that the refurb was going to concentrate on the rooms.  But never mind, at least JY are going back to the Barcelo Punta Umbria Mar.   😃

I think that's an error Vickie.  I am referring to the Costa de la Luz holiday.  Accommodation is still showing Barcelo Punta Umbria Beach Resort and should be (according to what you have been able to tell us) Barcelo Punta Umbria Mar.
