I see that this year's trip for Dec 12th  is back on the website as available. Presumably that means it's no longer sold out - I assume due to a cancellation, rather than an increase in number of places? Can you tell me the usual please - group size, m/f split, age range... Thankfully it does still appear to be a guaranteed departure  🙂

Thanks

Hi Una,

Yep, there are 4 spaces available 🙂

The overall group size is 25 (so 21 people booked at the moment), 3 men and 18 women. Their ages range from late 40s to early 80s.

Don't worry, this departure is guaranteed!

Thanks,

Vickie

Thanks Vickie

I may have posted this again as I've had posts not appear in the past. You can ignore the next one!!

Actually, one other question. Is there an upgrade available for the long haul flight, and if so, how much would it be, and has anyone upgraded (I could be the only one not upgraded for all I know  :))

Hi Una,

Current price for a return business class upgrade London to Santiago via Madrid with LATAM airlines is £2455

If you would like the upgrade, we would need full payment of the supplement as we will need to pay the airline straight away, and this would be non refundable in the event of cancellation.

I am just finding out how many people have upgraded so I'll get back to you asap 🙂

Many thanks,

Vickie

Your upgrade is a snip compared by my LATAM business upgrade quote of £4700 for my Chile etc holiday in November!!

Hi. Would you mind checking the price of an upgrade for the flights again (in case it has changed). Any update of how many (if any) of the other passengers have upgraded?

Thanks

Hi Una,

The cost of a Business class upgrade London-Madrid-Santiago round trip is now £2825. We would need full payment to confirm as we would need to pay the airline straightaway 🙂

Many thanks,

Vickie

Hi.

I'm still debating an upgrade as that would go a long way towards spending money! And I know the price will change in the meantime. But is there any update on whether any/some/all have upgraded or is anyone still in economy (besides me!)

Thanks

Una

Is Premium Economy an option with LATAM? Or just a one way upgrade outbound so you are well rested to start the trip? We flew with BA and in our group everyone had upgraded to Premium Economy or Business class on the way out at least.

Hi Jellifer and Una,

Of the 20 people booked 7 have upgraded to business class.

LATAM do not offer a premium economy cabin on their flights between London and Sao Paulo.

Many thanks,

Vickie

I just received some updated documentation. It has the flight from Santiago to Madrid listed for 29th Dec, and an * on the arrival time, to indicate next day, which would be 30th. The flight from Madrid to Heathrow is also listed for 29th. I presume the Santiago to Madrid flight should be listed as departing on 28th?

Thanks

Hi Una,

Apologies for this, it was a mistake on the paperwork. We've corrected it and sent you new documents.

Many thanks,

Hi. I had problems with my phone last week, so if this is a double post, apologies. I have seen on reviews for previous trips that a jacket is provided by the cruise ship. Is it the same for this trip? I'm thinking of suitcase space....  no point in packing one if one will be supplied.   🙂

Also, given the current state of emergency in Santiago, does every thing  go ahead as planned if its still in place by the date of the trip?

Thanks Una

Hi Una,

A jacket is not supplied for this trip, so we'd recommend you bring a bring a warm down jacket and the best waterproof you have.

We are closely monitoring the situation in Santiago and hopefully this will be resolved before the departure date. If not, we will put contingency plans in place and all customers will be contacted directly in good time to advise of any changes.

Many thanks,

Vickie

Vickie are you sure about the jacket? Hurtigruten supply them on all Antarctica trips as far as I’m aware? It’s only a lightweight rain coat, we needed to wear our layers underneath it when I was there last year. It’s more for them to see us when we were out on landings than anything else.

Hi all,

Sorry, crossed wires our end! Yes, you will be provided with a jacket but we suggest bringing your own warm and waterproof jacket too 🙂

Many thanks,

Vickie

Last year I went on the Chile trip which uses LATAM to Santiago via Sau Paulo, I had to do a lot of digging on the LATAM website but found they do economy seats with more legroom. Again takes a bit of hunting but there is a phone number which appears to put you though to LATAM in Brazil. I succeeded in booking these seats which were supposed to be about £90 extra each way. Turned out they couldn't process my UK credit card and told me to pay at the airport, They never asked for the money so outgoing it was free. Somehow managed to get a free upgrade to business class on the way back, which was nice. Hope this might be of help.
