I have just received my final paperwork for this trip and it says "Please take a smaller bag " on the extension.

If this is really necessary I can do this but I would find it very inconvenient. I have not seen it mentioned before.

What is the reason for this? I don't think a comment of "Due to the distance" is a sufficient explanation.

Hi David,

The reason we advise this is just to make things easier for you really. It means then you won't need to take a whole big suitcase with you, as you'll be getting the train there and flying back, it just means less to worry about.

Using a smaller bag has also worked well for customers on our previous tours, and your luggage will be completely safe in Delhi at the hotel.

I hope this helps.

Many thanks,

Vickie

Hi David, I did the spirit of India a couple of years ago, on another part of the trip we were separated from our suitcases for two days without warning, whilst we went by train our main bags went by road and leapfrogged us.  there was absolutely no warning of this in the travel documents and I ended up having to cram effectively 3 days of clothes, plus toiletries, jimjams, 2 cameras, shaver etc etc into just the small backpack I had with me, and several others had the same problem, I would suggest you make your “small” bag as big as you possibly can!
