Hi Amy

Postie has just dropped a pack on my door mat for Europe & Worldwide 2018, European River Cruises 2017/18 and Global Explorer, there are no new holidays shown.  Is this the pack we were promised for mid September or are we getting another pack in October showing new holidays, if so what is the point of wasting time and money printing the pack I've just got?  Could you please explain just what we will be looking for in the post in October.

Many thanks

Good Afternoon Avocet64,

You will receive a new magazine titled Inspirations in October that will detail the names of our new tours.

I hope that this answers your question.

Kindest Regards,

Amy

Sorry to be a pain, but you mention "names"of new tours tours. Will the publication contain sufficient details to make a firm booking, or will have to wait for further details

Hi Avocet

You may not have noticed that Mongolia has disappeared from the 'new' brochure and the website.

Hi Amy,

You say that the Inspirations magazine will give the "names" of the new 2018 tours, but will you give us the dates and costs??

Cheers,

Hils

Hi,

If the dates and prices are available for ALL of the new tours when we go to print, these will be included. However, as soon as they are available to book, the complete itinerary, dates and prices will be available on the website.

For those of you enquiring about the departure dates of the new tours, the earliest departure date is April, this is for a short haul holiday (which has not yet been teased).

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Julia,

That is a big "if" - surely such things are basic to tour/business planning, that if there is a deadline for the Inspirations magazine and it's been decided that the new tours are finally going to be listed in it, then all the details should be available by then?  What have the holiday creators been up to for the last few months??  Sorry to say it, but it sounds to me like the office is in total chaos....

Best wishes,

Bob

Hi Julia,

Thanks for clarifying re dates for the new tours. Am I right in saying that there will be no brand new tours, long haul, between January and April?

Cheers,

Hils

Hi Hils,

That is correct - I have been advised that there will be no new long haul holidays that depart between January and April.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Bob,

There is one tour that will not be departing until the end of next year and they are just dotting i's and crossing t's.

I can guarantee the holiday creator is frantically trying to get it ready.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Thank you Jonah, no I hadn't noticed, that has scuppered my plans for 2018!

Luckily, I hadn't got around to booking as I was also looking for something for February and would have booked both of them at the same time.  I  had thought about Myanmar but was holding back to see what the new holidays brought forth in September in case there was something I liked better, well we all know what a farce that has been!! With all the recent troubles in Myanmar, and the international condemnation, I have decided maybe now is not the time to go.  Although the FCO don't advise against travelling, except in the trouble spots, you never know what the repercussions might be in the next few months, and as too many arrangements have to be made around a holiday I'd rather not risk it.  So, now it's back to the drawing board.

Thanks again

Hi folks, I've noticed that quite a number of tours and dates have disappeared from the website - apart from Mongolia, both Iran and Colombia have gone and many other holidays have had one or two dates chopped from next year's schedule.  As I've suggested elsewhere, it seems that JY overreached themselves last year and put on too many new tours and dates and have now curtailed them.  Taken together with the "new tours" fiasco, it is a real shame.  There must be a lot of red faces in the office at present over all this - and if there aren't, there should be.

All the best,

Bob

Hi Avocet

If it is any comfort, a work colleague has just returned from Myanmar and saw nothing regarding the Rohynga despite what the TV News is saying.  He travelled to all the areas you would go to.

Hi Bob,

The reason why certain tours have been removed is because they are currently being reviewed to see if we should include them.

Amy

Hi Bob

Hope you are well.  I queried why the Cambodia tour in particular was not in the brochure and the reply was that they could not fit 200 plus tours into it.  This is my reply to which I have not had a response.  Sadly I fully expect my trip in November 2018 to be pulled due to this lack of visibility.

Thanks for the response Julia and that is good to hear although I understand that this holiday could still be cancelled next year if numbers are not enough.

However, if 'you can't fit all the tours in' then why publish at all? So if it isn't in the brochure that doesn't mean that it has been 'rested'?  Mongolia isn't in the brochure despite having only done two tours, on looking at the website it has disappeared.

It seems to me from this response and other replies that I have seen on the various threads regarding the  'new' brochure and holidays for 2018, that JY are pushing customers to the website for information.  That is not suitable for all customers and a strange step when as many others have said your competitors are producing large glossy brochures.  If it is a cost cutting measure then as has already been said stop producing the constant flyers during the year which just fill up my recycling bag.

As a further point, if you are pushing us to the website then make sure that the website is up to date, the payment option works, we can book online - last time I tried I couldn't.  Despite many conversations with Amy (who was very helpful) I still can't see all my holidays in Manage my Bookings.

I am sorry Amy and Julia but I think you are in a no win position on this one.

I hope you have a good weekend

Good Afternoon Jonah,

Despite my efforts to try and solve your issue, I have forwarded this complaint onto our E-commerce team who will try to rectify the situation.

Hopefully you will be able to see all your bookings soon.

Kindest Regards,

Amy

Hi Amy,

Thanks for the explanation but it is really very late in the day for JY to still be debating in mid September whether to run various long haul tours for the following year, for all the reasons that have already been mentioned.  I booked a tour last Friday with a competitor for next Sept and another for May 2019 - they run with very small numbers, which is great so I have confidence that they will almost certainly run.  I am sorry to be so negative but I am really fed up with JY at present - and it is clear that many others feel the same way.

Best wishes,

Bob
