Thanks Hi, am going to India in 2 weeks (very excited) but have been told that the Indian currency is a restricted one and I can only get rupees in the country.

Am I better to sort out a pre paid card or just use my usual debit card?

Thanks

Good Afternoon Jimp101,

You are going to have an amazing time!

This information should be in your pack.

The currency is the Indian Rupee.

It’s not possible to buy any Rupees prior to leaving the UK. Rupees can be purchased from the currency exchange counters / reception in the hotels throughout the tour as required. We recommend passengers take their currency in Sterling or US Dollars cash.

Kind Regards,

Mildred.

Hi Jim

I have done both tours to India and on each occasion have taken sterling. There are some ATM s available but hotels will exchange sterling for rupees.

Have a great holiday

When I went to India apart from taking a small amount of £'s I used ATM's without all the time. Stuck to ICICI Bank as I have dealt with their UK subsiduary previously.

When you change your money into rupees keep the receipt. If you wish to change it back at the airport you will need to show it.

Thanks David.  Good tip - I usually do keep all bits of paper but I will be extra careful.

Hi

When I did the Kerala trip I was able to purchase Indian Rupees online via Moneycorp.

Don,t change into Rupees at the airport, the exchange rate is awful. Use your Hotel or a Bank. A lot of traders accept pound sterling, and sometimes ask if you have UK currency.
