I was just looking at the Tour Departures Board on the website and the Mexico tour isn't listed for 8 Feb - I haven't received my final documents yet so I'm beginning to wonder: should I be worried?!!

Hi Bob,

Thanks for flagging this. There is a slight issue with the information pulling through between the two systems, but our web team are working on it so check it out in a day or two and you should see your departure.

Your holiday is still going ahead - there is no need to worry about that. Your final documents were sent out via airmail last week, so you should be receiving them pretty soon.

Hi Monty,

The final documents have arrived with FOUR hotel changes, including the one for the add-on. We are not staying in Playa del Carmen anymore but in Puerto Morelos!!! This is a real pity and I'm very disappointed as I was so looking forward to staying at the Iberostar Tucan with the wildlife in the grounds. Fingers crossed the replacement hotel(s) are good.....

Hi Bob,

I received my documents a couple of days ago. There are 4 additional hotel changes to the one we already know about in San Pedro, which include staying at the 5* Ocean Coral and Turquesa Resort situated halfway between Playa del Carmen and Cancun (this is instead of the Iberostar Tucan in PDC itself).

Trip Advisor gives the new hotels the thumbs up, although recent reviews of the Banana Beach hotel at San Pedro still show comments such as 'tired' 'needs updating' etc. I think the general term in the building trade is 'in need of modernisation'!

Hi Mike,

I see from reviews of the Ocean Coral & Turquesa that we need to ask our TM to ensure we get rooms away from the pool area, as the music goes on till 1.00am!! There is also a weekly foam party but thankfully it looks like we'll miss it. It does sound like a party hotel largely geared for young folks, hope it won't be too manic when we are there.....

Yes there have definitely been ups and downs in the run up to this tour and it has been very frustrating with a lack of information and all the changes to hotels. I'm very disappointed that the Playa del Carmen add-on will not be in Playa del Carmen! But I'm hoping the replacement hotels will be of good quality and that all goes well for this tour. I'm going with a positive frame of mind, as I really need a good break after a hectic period at work. And I will most certainly be writing a review when I get back!!

Yes indeed and thanks for that, but I have great faith in JY that everything will come together and we will have a great tour! This will be my 12th JY tour and I haven't had a disappointing experience yet. The problem in the run up to this tour seems to be a lack of communication from the local agents in Central America and I'm guessing the staff at JY must be pretty frustrated too! Still we have been given an experienced and highly rated tour manager in Freddy Morgand (I haven't had him before but I've read reviews of tours he's done a few times) and I'm sure he'll work well with the local guides to ensure all goes smoothly.

Hi Lesley,

Many thanks for your best wishes; I'm certainly hoping that all goes well. The hotel changes are frustrating, particularly the one whereby our PDC add-on is now about 23 miles outside PDC itself! It just gives the impression that everything has been cobbled together a bit, which is a little disconcerting but time will tell.

Bob - I've made some enquires about getting to PDC from Puerto Morelos and apparently its 'an easy journey on a big comfortable ADO bus that runs every 15 minutes and costs 20 pesos'. So it's definitely do-able if anyone wants to go.

Hi Mike, I'm planning on spending one day "in resort" (I'll probably do the Cozumel tour on the other day) so I might be interested in doing that - I'm hoping the TM/local guide will give us lots of info for things we can do either at the hotel or in the vicinity.
