I am thinking about the trip to Canada and New England next year. However, I was concerned about negative comments on the 'community forum' about the accommodation in Montreal. Please can you advise whether these have been taken on board and different accommodation arranged. Thanks.

Hi Lesley2015,

The Hotel Faubourg Montreal has recently changed it's name from the Holiday Inn Express Montreal, so in effect, this should mean that certain aspects will have changed. I hope this helps.

Kindest Regards,

I did this tour this time last year, with New York add on, I have checked all my notes that I make on tour and I can't find anything really bad I have written about this hotel, can I just say everyone has different ideas and expectations in rooms and what's on offer. For me the holiday is so much more than a hotel room or a simple breakfast, as long as it's a clean room sheets bathroom etc, that's OK. When you have multi hotels on a tour some will be better than others that's just the way it is. Please don't be put off this great tour just by the fact one hotel might not be up to scratch.

I did leave a review on this tour so perhaps have a look at that on the review boards, I have been on 11 JY tours and have stayed in SO!!!! Many hotels along the way, some I would of loved to stay many night in others I have been glad it just been one or two.

I hope you book this tour as its a great tour to do so much to see and do.

Any questions just ask.

Hi Lesley, I stayed at this hotel. The room was lovely just the breakfast had plastic knives and forks etc and a short walk for the resturants and yes seems abit rough at night but if had a choice to stay again at three hitel I would. Never spent much time there just to shower and sleep. Hope that helps

Thanks for your reply though I'm not sure a name change necessarily means that things will have improved.

Lesley.

Hi Cindy thanks for taking trouble to respond. I did look at travellers reviews and also checked Trip Advisor - hence my concerns. However I think you have convinced me that on the whole this trip is well worth going on. Thanks again. Lesley.

Thanks for your reply Ann - as you say, we don't spend much time in the hotels. Definitely considering this trip. Lesley.

Hi Lesley

I've just returned from this tour and I must say what a great tour it was. The hotel you mentioned isn't the best as it has no restaurant and no bar and yes as Wanny says the breakfast is on paper plates and with plastic knifes and forks. The rooms are large and comfortable and although themhotelmisnt in the best of areas as long as you go out for your evening meal in a group you will be fine. There is a very good Chinese restaurant close by which many of us went to.

I wouldn't let the bad reviews and even what Wanny and myself said let this put you off this tour. There are so many great sites to see and as Cindy says you may never get the chance to see these things again.

And Cindy sorry to say that I wasn't brave enough to do any of the Helecopter trips. I know I'm a wimp.

Hi Cindy

I'm not sure which I was afraid of the most. The helecopter ride or the comment from you if I didn't go on it. Lol

To be honest I wasn't comfortable doing them and I would've been way outside my comfort zone. I may live to regret not going up in one and I still may do on further tours. You never know.

I did mention this in my review and on many other postings that those left behind HAD to arrange their own transport, which I did not agree with either.

Glad you had a good time and went on the helo

Paul,

I did reply some where my thoughts on you NOT doing the helicopter flight but the full response was not posted!!..honest I wasn't that nasty LOL!!

I think you missed a great opportunity to see some fantastic views but I do understand you apprehension (that's one word for it) as I can do helicopter flights etc, but you wouldn't get me into vast expances of sea, we all have our own phobias..

Can you just try one day, if you would see the picture of my first helo flight I looked absolutely terrified and I was but I have done many since..

Hi Paul, I've done three helicopter flights and loved them all! They are a brilliant way of seeing scenery close up and I've felt absolutely safe each time. In Zambia I had the most amazing views of the Victoria Falls - although a friend of mine was afraid to do the heli flight she proceeded to do a microlite over the Falls, the thought of which terrified me! So we are all different! But I would encourage you to do a heli flight in the future if you get the chance - the views will quickly turn your fears into excitement!

Best wishes,

Bob

I have never done a helicopter flight either. Perhaps I will be brave enough to do one in Zambia if there is an opportunity to do so.

I'm a nervous flier, but have thoroughly enjoyed all five of my helicopter flights. Helicopters are such a great way to see sights from a different perspective. Because they don't take many passengers, the biggest I've been on took seven, you're no sooner on board than you're up in the air. With fabulous scenery to enjoy you really won't have time to be nervous! Jaya the trip in Zambia is a must. The falls are spectacular from the ground but even more so from the air. I hope you can make the flight.
