Hi Ken,

It is hard to recommend a particular amount, but I can give you a rough guide:

- For an average meal you can expect to pay between 8-12 CUC. You can easily find cheaper or more expensive options throughout the city.

- You can buy your own beer for 1 CUC or in a bar or restaurant for 1-3 CUC.

You should have received the prices for optional excursions and other recommendations in your final documents.

Kindest regards,

Monty

I went to Cuba in March, on a half board basis. I changed three hundred pounds which was more than enough for additional excursions, drinks and souvenirs. There is very little to buy by way of souvenirs outside of Havana. It's a beautiful country, gorgeous beaches, stunning scenery and lovely people. I'm so glad I've seen it before the American cruise ships arrive, although the Cuban economy really needs their dollars. I'm planning to go back in a few years to see how the country changes. One tip, if you have any currency left over, change it back to sterling before you go airside. There's nowhere to change money after security check, and nothing much to spend money on either. Have a great time.

I agree with all that SarahS has said. I went in May and was in the same predicament you are now. I'm a guy and don't have a predilection to spending a lot. I took £1000 and brought £700 back. You are best checking an exchange site for the latest rates. Always try to change your money at a Hotel cashier. They are open every day, but only at specific times. So make sure you have enough for your immediate needs.
