Hi

I am booked to go to New York on 20th March.

How many others are going on the trip? Is our Tour Manager meeting us at the airport?

Hope the weather is kind to us!

Hi Diddly74,

There are currently 19 travellers booked on the New York City break and the Tour Manager provisionally allocated to this trip is Wendy Burdett.

It looks like Wendy will be meeting the group at the airport, so make sure that your Just You luggage labels are on show so that either she or the Airport Representative will be able to spot you.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Good Afternoon Julia

On the spur of the moment earlier this week, I decided to take one of the two remaining places on this New York trip. I had a telephone call to explain that some availability checks were required before my booking could be confirmed. I made a call yesterday to see how things were progressing but there was no update. Still not heard back. Thinking of pulling out and making my own arrangements. Any chance you can pop upstairs to see if there is anybody there? (Joking!). This was going to be a taster before deciding on a longer trip later in the year. Not going well so far ............

Good afternoon Grasshopper,

I'm sorry to hear that your booking has not yet been confirmed.

Just to explain, there is a point where we have to return unsold flight seats and hotel rooms to our suppliers. If a traveller would like to book after this date, we have to try and buy back the room/flight seat which can sometimes take a couple of days.

Please bear with the team, I can see that they are working on trying to get you and another traveller on this trip at the moment and they are waiting to hear if the hotel can accommodate you both. I've made a note to follow up on this when I am back in on Monday to see how things are going

Kindest regards,

Julia

Good Morning Julia

Thank you for your reply and explanation of the situation ... hopefully it will all be resolved by 'the team' in the next couple of days.

I will try to contain myself a little while longer .... as my Master oft said ... "patience young grasshopper ... or you will grow into a miserable old gentleman and travel the world alone .... AND paying the single supplement"

Regards!

Hi Don,

That's great news! I hope you have a fantastic time.

There are 20 of you confirmed to travel to NYC at the minute. Of course, if other travellers would like to book, we can try and obtain the flights and rooms (like you have experienced). If you'd like to give me a nudge next week, I can give you the absolute final numbers.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Thanks Julia. I have been checking the New York weather forecast for the past few days. It has changed hourly ... The latest is forecasting snow for Friday! No matter, it will probably be forecasting a tropical heatwave when I next check ..... (I wish!)

May I trouble you for the usual breakdown of my fellow travellers when you have a moment?

Thanks again

Don

Hi Don,

All that interchangeable weather must be making it difficult to decide what to pack - do you take shorts or snowshoes!?! In all seriousness, I do hope the weather turns out nice for you.

In answer to your query, the group is made up of 4 men and 17 women with ages from late-30s through to mid-70s.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Thank you, Julia ... the shorts and snowshoes have been in and out of my bag so often, they are dizzy!

Hi Julia

Fantastic! Arrangements to secure the alternative flight were managed superbly by the Tour Manager - thank you, Wendy. In summary, a brilliant trip; returning home came too soon. Met some lovely people, Julia. Now planning my next trip.

Regards
