Hi Mick,

I forwarded your messages on to my colleague in the customer care team who I understand you have now spoken with.

For those who wouldn't have been privy to that conversation. In terms of flight times, unfortunately for 2014 American Airlines would not give us a group allocation on the morning flight, which they have done for 2015.

In terms of the 75 seats available, this doesn't show the number of places available on the flight, it shows the number of seats that have not yet been allocated which is perhaps a little misleading for those who are looking to fly with AA.

On to the pizza, I understand from our overseas team, that there will still be time to head out for pizza on the first night for those who wish to go.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Julia,

I can confirm your colleague has spoken to me and informed me the same as you state here.

Can't argue that they are the facts at this late stage but still disapointed those interested (staying over at Heathrow) cant go on the morning flight without paying a big supplement if willing to make their own way to the hotel.

Lets not forget this was first highlighted in June well before this latest flight change.

It'll be interesting to see what time people get out for a meal and how many of the group actually go at that time.

Thanks for following it up, the question had to be asked.

Hello Mick and Julia,

I am with Mick on this one. I have booked a hotel overnight so will be wandering around all morning with nothing to do when I could be on my way and having fun in the evening :)

Jan

PS booked on the Flanders tour next May. Is there anyone doing the First class travel on Eurostar on this trip? Have only done it once and with the upper travel which was great.

If these flight times are correct by the time we get to our hotel in Chicago at approx 9pm it will be for us 3am. I doubt very much if many will want to go out and eat Pizza!. There may be time but I for one will have no inclination. Bad timing out and on return trip JY:(

Hi all

Last time I flew in to Chicago on Route 66 trip in 2012 it took 3 hours to get through security. With new security alert it could take longer. If lucky we may make breakfast on second day.

See you all in lounge.

Tony

Keep travelling this is real life not. A rehearsal

Sue,

Fortunately the flight back has also changed to 4pm so may get some time in the morning to explore New Orleans (as advertised).

I'll still be going out in Chicago, will try to sleep on he flight (a few Bran the lounge will help).

Tony,

Hope it isn't 3 hours but can believe it at Chicago. With 36 of us we will only be as quick as the slowest.

See you in the lounge.

It took 3 hrs to clear Chicago on the Route 66 trip I did back in 2012 perhaps we were on the same one. But one of the reasons for it was that it was the Ryder Cup in Chicago starting in 2 days and there was loads of flights coming in for that. The BBC crew were on the same flight and the US Immigration wouldn't let John Inverdale push to the front and made him wait like the rest of us.

I'm flying to Washington in 10 days so I'll get an idea of what extra checks are on in US Immigration then and report back.

Regards

Steve

Steve,

Should give you plenty of time between your transfer flight and the Chicago one. So should see you in the lounge.

Enjoy your America warm up trip, I'll be in sunny Madeira around the same time.

Mick.

Hello All,

How is it going with the ice hockey tickets in St Louis?. I have just checked on Ticketmaster and seats are not ready to buy yet. With the late arrival on the first day, does this bode well for the arrival in St Louis?

Hi Julia

Did everyone on this trip receive updated paperwork as I haven't received anything about the flight time change?

Many thanks

Jan

Jan,

Think its a good chance it'll too tight time wise, if we get time great but its a good distance between Chicago & St Louis, plus we'll be arriving during the rush hour i suspect, also need to get checked in at the hotel.

I personally wouldn't get a ticket in advance but if we do get time I'm sure it will be great fun, done one ice hockey match before in the States and enjoyed it.

Hi Julia

Could you please let me have the number of people going on 3 November and the usual information regarding male/female split. Also, has the Tour Manager been confirmed?

Not long now, looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hi Si, there are 36 people booked - 23 female, 13 male - and the age range is from 35 to 76.

The Tour Manager currently allocated to this tour is Stephen Rodaway.

Thanks,

Hi Jan

Just to update you,the Blues are selling individual tickets for the games in October,so November tickets should go on sale in the next week,or two.

As Mick says timing may be tight, but, the nearest Metro station is close to the hotel.

Jan

Hi Jan

The tickets for the game on Nov 6 are now on sale. The upper seats are around 50 USD,it looks like this includes fees but,not certain.Looking at the Blues website, the tickets are dotted around, you are able to select from those available on the site.

Like Mick said,it may be a bit tight if we get to St.Louis at 6.30,but,I have known some people turn up as late as the third period, otherwise may have to find a sports bar.

Keith,

The hotel is close to Lacledes Landing, lots of bars and some will have screens, remember watching some world cup footie back in 2006 when i was in the city.

Know a cracking place to go the other night it St Louis, not on the Landing but only a 10 minute or so walk from the hotel for those that fancy it. Good food and music
