Hi

Was just wondering when travelling from Palm Springs to Vegas, do we drive passed the Welcome to Vegas sign? If so does/can the coach stop there to allow photos? As the sign is a long way from the strip.

Thanks

Karly

Hi Karly,

The sign is located at the end of the strip near to Las Vegas Airport. I understand that there will be photo opportunities on the tour but just to be on the safe side, mention it to the Tour Manager and they will make sure you don't miss out on capturing that perfect shot.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Karly

When I did this trip, our group was taken to 'visit' the sign as part of our included morning tour. Unfortunately, because it is literally in the middle of the street, it is really difficult for the tour bus to stop so you'll only get about 10 minutes to get your shots before the bus gets moved on.

One thing I remember - you may find some one 'organising' photographs for groups and offering to take pictures on your camara for you. They give the impression that they are working at the site but we were warned that they are NOT city officials and have no right to be there. In effect they are 'hucksters' who may demand money from you having taken your picture. If it happens, don't let them bully you - they have no legal right to be there. On the bright side - by the time your tour reaches Vegas, you will have made loads of friends in your group and I'm sure you will all be happy to swap cameras and take pictures amongst yourselves.

Have an amazing time

Hi

Thank you for the feedback. That is good news that we should be able to stop as I heard it wasn't near the strip. Yes fingers crossed people will swap cameras for pictures, they prob be sick of me asking haha.

Also with the Grand Canyon day, if I didn't book a optional trip do you still get to go? or would I have to stay in Vegas for the day?

Hi Karly, when I did this tour a couple of years ago, we stopped at the Vegas sign as part of the Vegas by night tour - it was quiet then and we had plenty of time to take photos of the sign which actually came out really well.

If you don't book any of the excursions to the Grand Canyon you'll have a free day in Vegas. One of our tour didn't as she had been there before and another in our group booked a bus tour to the GC independently - I wouldn't recommend doing that as she was on a bus for around 12 hours! If you haven't been to the GC I'd really recommend it, an amazing experience. I did the 3-in-1 tour, as did almost everyone on our tour: the coach took us to Boulder City airport and we took a small plane to the south rim; then we got on helicopters to the bottom of the canyon, a short boat trip along the Colorado river, then into the chopper again back up to the top, then a bus tour to visit various viewing points as well as a picnic breakfast. It was an early start - around 4.30am I think, but we were back around 1.30pm for lunch in the Stratosphere. It's expensive but worth it!

Hope this helps,

Bob

All feedback is great help, thanks

I have another question, on the trip in LA do you see or go anywhere near the Hollywood sign? I want to be a right tourist haha.

Hi Karly,

You will see the sign during the hour, the only thing is that you won't be ablt to get close to it (nobody is allowed anymore)

Have a great trip

Hi Karly, you will see the sign from Hollywood Boulevard - if you have a good zoom on your camera you should get a decent shot of it. At the time I was there, I didn't have a good zoom but got a photo of it in the distance. There is a big gap between the "O" and the "D" now so it looks a bit wonky!!

Cheers,

Bob
