Hi Ben,

I was planning to go to either Russia or Vietnam in 2013 but my son and daughter in law have just turned my plans upside down and made me an offer I can't refuse. They have volunteered to look after my dog for a month whilst I do my holiday of a lifetime trip to Australia., this is something I have wanted to go for some time but had been putting off the trip as I didn't want to put my dog into kennels for that length of time.

Anyway, I am now just at the point of booking to go in March, I don't intend to take the Singapore add on at the beginning of the holiday as I have already been there so will 'bite the bullet' and do the trip straight through! But I am interested in the possibility of the Hong Kong add on at the end of the holiday.

However this is shown as an option in the brochure but not on the website. How do I book it? Does it need to be booked at the same time as the main holiday or can I add it later? Are there any others booked on the Hong Kong add on for the March 13th trip?

Thanks,

Good morning,

Thanks for getting in touch, I can fully understand your concern with kennels, we have two and the other half plain refuses, I am not keen so we work around them, they pretty much rule our household!! They're lovely company though!

Ok, Singapore add-on, this is something that would need to be discussed with one of our contact centre advisers, we cannot handle custom bookings on the website unfortunately.

I hope this helps,

Kindest,

Ben

Sorry my bad and well spotted Cindy, I think it's because it's Friday!

D17 - apologies, however either way due to the type of request it will still involve a call to one of our advisers, if you have any further questions please do just ask,

Kindest both,

Ben

Thanks Ben for pointing me in the right direction (and Cindy for spotting Bens 'deliberate mistake').

I phoned your call centre and got replies to my queries. If any others are interested then it is possible to do the Hong Kong add-on on the 13 March departure. It doesn't have to be booked at the same time as the main tour but can be added later. They couldn't tell me the actual cost as the price quoted in the brochure is only a guidline and various factors need to be taken into account when calculating the final cost.

Incidentally there apparently is no tour manager on the Hong Kong add on and when I enquired there were no others on the March tour booked to do it, so I may take a rain check as don't fancy it on my own!

I haven't yet booked the main tour as needed to sort out a few things first but intend to do so this week. I'm feeling a little nervous but then just tell myself that we only live once and this isn't the rehearsal so just do it!! 🙂

I did this Australia holiday with HK add on earlier this year and I can totally recommend both. When on holiday I rather like 'my hand held' without having to do any thinking for myself and was also nervous about HK without a tour guide.

It turned out brilliantly! We were escorted from the airport to the hotel in a large chauffer-driven Mercedes and were picked up at the end. There was a group of us who met up for outings, dinners etc. Apart from that, HK is a fascinating (cheap) place and you will be missing a great experience. Taxis are cheap and very plentiful but get a card from the hotel in Chinese as taxi drivers tend not to speak English.

If you do decide to book your own excursions, the hotel will do this for you and you will be picked up and dropped back at your hotel.

Having travelled all that way, the HK add on is not to be missed!

Hope this helps.
