Please could you advise whether it is better to obtain roubles in the UK or in Russia. I will be taking Euros as well.

When I went, I took sterling with me and changed it into roubles on arrival at the airport in Moscow. You will probably also be able to withdraw cash from ATMs in Russia, but let your bank know before you go if you are thinking of doing this.

Yes, you will be able to change money at the airport. I changed money there when I went.
