Hi,

I'm going on the South Africa inc whale watching trip on the 14th October. After trying to order currency it seems individuals are only allowed to take 5,000 rand (around £400) into the country. Do you know if any stops are made on the trip to optain further currency because of this? As the optional excursions are around £250, so I'm concerned I will run out of money quite quickly.

Many Thanks,

S.

Hello

My suggestion is to check with your bank if you can use your debit card at the cashpoints in South Africa. You can use them pretty much anywhere these days, and I find this is usually the most hassle-free way to travel. Some people still prefer to use travellers' cheques, which is a marginally safer but more time-consuming option.

Kind regards,
