Hi Sheila

I'm glad you've found the information helpful.

Sometimes tour managers will meet you in resort, depending on their schedule and where they live. For this tour, Martin will be meeting you and the group at Heathrow.

You should receive your final documents in mid-August, so you'll be able to sort out your parking then.

I can also tell you that there will be 34 people on your trip.

Have a lovely time!

Kind regards,

Olly, your editor

Hi everyone going on this tour. Having received flight info etc., is it me or is the list of hotel accommodation dates not right i.e., the arrival date at the Bell Tower surely should be the 8th Sep not 9th as we have 2 nights in Xian before arriving in Shanghai on the 10th. Perhaps its me having a senior moment if so please let me know. Apart from this am looking forward to meeting up with everyone on the 2nd at Heathrow but particularly making contact with the other 5 people I believe who are travelling on the Manchester flight to Heathrow. Should I wear a pink carnation in my lapel!! Dot 25

Hi Olly,

On the flight information it says that the baggage allowance is 30kg. In the final holiday information under Flight Luggage Allowance, it says "As your holiday involves domestic flights with more than one airline, the lowest baggage allowance of 20kg will apply.". Which is correct?

Hi Jim,

If you are flying directly to China from London Heathrow then the baggage allowance of 30kgs applies. However if your trip involves taking an additional internal flight beforehand, then the baggage allowance is only 20kgs.

I hope this doesn't cause you any inconvenience.

Hi Olly,

I have received my final documents, hurrah!!!

The 'Final Holiday Information' says I should have flight coupons for the flights but I don't have any. Is the Airline Bookinf Ref enough to be able to check in?

Hi Dot, if you are having a senior moment then so am I. I decided to assume that there was a typing error in the info. The flight to Xian is on the 8th. Olly can you confirm that this is just a typo on the Hotel Accommodation page?

Thanks, Anne

Hi Anne,

I’m pleased to hear you’ve received your final documents. The countdown really has begun now!

Yes the airline booking reference is sufficient to check in, and I can confirm that there has been a typing error on your paperwork. The flight is indeed on the 8th. I have contacted customer relations and all passengers will receive amended paperwork to this effect. Thank you both (yourself and Dot25) for pointing that out to us.

Kind regards,

Andy, your editor

Earlier you said to take a quantity of Chinese currency with me, but I have been unable to find any. Can you help?

Lloyds centre said cannot supply, but local branch can obtain! Sorry to have bothered you again.

Hi David,

Most Bureau de Change's should be able to order Chinese currency if they don't have any in stock. The Post Office offers an online order service where you can order currency to a prefered branch and collect it when it arrives.

Following your advice I took the maximum amount of Chinese currency with me in 100 Yuan notes. As everything was included, I returned with unused Yuan which Lloyds has refused to refund "we will only accept 1000 Yuan notes", even though they only supplied the 100s in the first place! Do you know anywhere that will accept smaller denominations?

Hi David

Sorry to hear about your unused currency. It seems cheeky for Lloyds to refuse to take notes they gave you in the first place.

I'm afraid I don't know about the other banks' policy on this. Have you tried shopping around a few others? China is becoming quite a popular destination these days, so there should be a reasonable trade in Yuan now.

Finally I went into my local branch and, as a customer of nearly 50 years, 'persuaded' them!

Having had a wonderful holiday in China, I am looking at next year already and I will probably book the Canadian Rocky Mountaineer on September 1st. Can you please find out how much for flight upgrade.

Hi Olly, the Post Office will change Chinese Yuan of any denomination. They even changed my 1 Yuan notes!

Thanks Sheila - that's handy to know!

And David, well done for getting Lloyds to co-operate - it pays to be persistent!

I'm afraid I'm not able to give you a quote for your upgrade but if you can give our holiday advisors a call on 0800 567 7393 they'll be very happy to help.
