Hi there Travelcam, I think I read somewhere else that Lezli Petersen has a new tour and is being replaced by Ricardo De Lima Mendez. Perhaps Julia or Vickie can confirm this.

The 2nd is now looming close so looking forward to meeting up with you again and also Devontrailer.

Hi KenC,

I can advise that it looks like Ricardo has now been allocated this tour.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Ken, thanks for notification re tour manager.

Yes, the 2nd is looming too close for comfort with the present virus scare. I have put off organising anything for the mo as reading more in depth news it's much bigger than you think. Anyway, hope to see you and Devontraveller soon.

Hi everyone,

I'm also booked on the same tour as you. It will be great to meet you all, I think we are in for a real adventure.

I'm surprised no-one else seems to have picked up on the policy that has been brought in recently, whereby our luggage allowance is being restricted to 20kgs, even though the airline allows 23kg. My suitcase fits the allowed measurements exactly, but we are restricted to 20kg when previous tours were not.

What I would like to know Julia, is why was this policy introduced? Surely it would be better to pass on the full allowance to your customers?

Also when our luggage is checked in with the airline, will they still allow us the 23kg or have JY made some sort of deal with the airline to limit our baggage?

If the airline will allow us to check in 23kg without extra charge, what will the penalty be from JY? Will you be weighing our luggage and then charging extra?

As this trip is nearly 3 weeks I'm sure you can understand why I - and maybe others- would like to be able to 'max-out' the allowance.

I'm so looking forward to this trip. I've been on so many wonderful tours with JY and I'm sure this one will be amazing. I can't wait to start organising and packing.

By the way everyone, I've travelled with our TM Ricardo before and he was an excellent tour manager.

See everyone next week.

Hi Angee,

I have been advised by our team that the reason for the 20kg luggage allowance (rather than 23kg) is due to wider operational requirements including the ground transporations and porterage.

Kindest regards,

Julia

I have just returned from the Feb version of this trip it was FANTASTIC full on very busy lots of returns to Santiago which is a bity of a pain the hotel Director is nice though and downtown central Santiago still not safe the hotel is in a very nice suburb

our tour director was Lezli from Toronto she was ace

the hotel Explora up in the Atacama desert is amazing

all the hotels are good the Easter island one more basic but fantastic setting and its 2000 miles out into the Pacific so what do you expect? The island is absolutely amazing

Get Pesos food and drinks were ok for prices Easter island we were told dearer but it wasn't much just beware cost of getting cash out it cost me almost £10 to get £40 worth of cash out 4000 pesos cost me almost £50

get a little more out before you go I spent £350 worth in all that included several meals out several souveniers but not masses and a pretty reasonable consumption of the very nice vino tinto!

clothes....layers cool mornings could be red hot by afternoon

we were so so lucky and had amazing weather

dollars pretty useless the exchange rate lower than the pound Euros were better and mine were home in the safe!

practice your Spanish essentails like café con leche vino tinto vino blanc banos and the bill !! think that's le quanta

hope you have as great a time as we did
