Hi Vickie

How many have booked for this Australia trip with and without the Singapore pre-tour option. What is the M/F split?

I am still considering whether to book.

Hi Peter,

11 People have booked the Australia and the Ghan trip on February 6. There's 1 man and 10 women booked so far.

2 of those people have booked the Singapore pre-tour stopover on February 3, both are women.

Many thanks,

Vickie

Hi. I have just booked this tour to Australia for February 6th. I am not doing the pre-tour Singapore add-on.

I had to pay £49 extra for the flight in economy due to booking late. Premier economy was not available.I am looking forward to seeing everyone at Heathrow. I shall probably book most of the optional excursions but will not be doing the Sydney Harbour bridge climb!

Hi Peter

I too thought that I would not do the Sydney Bridge Climb but was so glad I did! If you are flying Quantas dreamliner, then there is really no need to upgrade as it is a very good aircraft. I did not upgrade and was very comfortable. You will love Australia Have a great time.

Hi Jaya

Thanks for the info but I Don't think we are on Dreamliners . I did fly to Bogota for Central America on one earlier this year and hope they are in use for the first leg for Ecuador next May.i am not good at heights in the open and shall reserve my judgement for the Sydney harbour Bridge climb until the day. I have booked all the other excursions.

I hope you sort out any teething problems with the Ecuador/Galapagos trip in March so my trip runs smoothly in May.

Have a good time in Burma along with Di and Dave.

+ 1 for the Bridge Climb! I've done it twice so have the 'Gold' certificate!

I flew Emirates from Manchester for the extended tour earlier this year (the same trip as Jaya) & could not get Premier Economy. However I was able to select exit seats on their website for 3 of the 4 legs and on the 4th leg ended up with a 3 seat row to myself so it all worked for me. Total cost of the upgrades was £305 direct to Emirates.

If you did not catch the BBC Channel4 program on the Ghan do look it up on the iPlayer, 3 hours on & around the train for the whole length of the journey, it really captured the vastness of Australia.

Looking forward to meeting you Peter G, I am not doing the pre-tour Singapore add- on as I have visited Singapore before.

I have booked most of the optional excursions but not the Bridge Climb, I did this when I was much younger, this time I have booked the helicopter flight, much more age appropriate ha ha.

Am travelling business class so if I do not see you at Heathrow looking forward to meeting you in Perth.

I have just booked for 2 more optional extras offered in an email received yesterday. These are a tour of Sydney Opera House and a twilight dinner cruise in Sydney Harbour on a tallship. Has anyone else booked these? i did check that none of the optional extras clashed.

I was told there are 11 people on this 'holiday'.

Vickie, has a tour manager been appointed yet and will he/she be travelling with us from Heathrow.

Merry Christmas to everyone

Hi Peter

We had a great time in Burma, Thanks

Have a great time in OZ I loved it when I went with JY in 2013

I did not do the Sydney bridge climb but wish I had as those that went said it was the most fantastic experience

I did most of the optionals just left out daintree as wanted a rest day to look around cairns and left out the penguins in Melbourne to see more of the city and the wine trip from Perth as met up with friends, I went to see Grease the musical in Sydney on my own which I booked myself here

Had the Dreamliner home from Singapore in Nov very comfortable in economy

Enjoy

All the best

Dave

Hi Peter

I am a bit jealous - we did not have the option of the tour of Sydney Opera House or twilight dinner! I know a few people did the Opera House tour on their own. I did the helicopter flight on this day and also wanted to 'participate' in Australia Day Celebrations afterwards so did not get a chance to do the tour of Opera House. I too do not like heights but this did not stop me doing the bridge climb and also the zip lines in Costa Rica! Must be mad! Have a great time in Oz.

Best wishes

Jaya

Hi Molls glad you decided on the Singapore add-on. Should be quite an experience with it being Chinese New Year. Look forward to meeting you at Heathrow on the 3rd. Kind regards Marilyn

Apparently 2 more optional extras Sydney Opera House and Twilight Dinner cruise on Tall ship offered by email.

I did not receive this email?

More details please

Hi Susie,

Yes, that's correct. We have added a couple of optional tours, these will be included in your final documents which you should receive via email today. Please let me know if it hasn't arrived and I will arrange for us to send you another.

Here are the details for the optional excursions:

Tour of Sydney Opera House is offered on Day 17 (Day 20 on if you're doing the Singapore pre-tour) and Tallship cruise is offered on Day 19 (Day 22 if you're doing the Singapore pre-tour) of the tour,

Also as we have quite a few of optional excursions in Sydney, I can advise that none of these clash with each other. If you would like to to book any of them, they can be either pre-booked or booked in resort as well.

Tour of Sydney Opera House – £23.00 per person

Step beneath the sails to find out what makes the Sydney Opera House so inspiring. Discover insider secrets and stories of the Opera House artists and performances, and step inside the iconic theatres & foyers that bring to life 1800 performances each year. Explore the building with our knowledgeable guides, learn about how Jorn Utzon’s vision came into existence against impossible odds, and capture photographs from rare vantage points, off limits to the general public. This is a one hour tour and a cultural must-see!

Tallship twilight cruise and dinner on Sydney Harbour - £62.00 per person

We set sail on a twilight dinner cruise on board a magnificent tallship like the early settlers all those years ago. Experience all that Sydney’s wonderful harbour has to offer from the unique perspective of Sydney’s only authentic timber tallship. No other cruise can match the perfection of cruising Sydney Harbour beneath the billowing sails of a tallship. There is no better way to end the day than this sublime Sydney Harbour dinner cruise.

I hope this is helpful!

Many thanks,

Vickie
