Hi Julie,

I am booked for this trip and looking forward like crazy!! Just trying to figure out what clothes to bring - I guess casual and comfortable, and I suppose we will have laundry facilities along the way. It is also tricky trying to work out much spending money, as not many meals are included and all reports say Oz is pretty expensive. Still, I am not going to "economise" as this is a trip of a lifetime for me. My son is in Melbourne and I am staying on an extra week at the end. Are you going on to New Zealand??

Regards

Marie (in Dublin).

Hi Marie,

I did the October/November JY holiday with Singapore ,Australia and New Zealand add on. All the hotels had laundry facilities which were reasonable i.e. around 3 dollors for a washing machine, dryer. There was only one room that did not have an iron and ironing board in but when requested one was soon dispatched. Hope that helps.

Regarding inclusive meals, your welcome dinner in Perth is in the hotel ( Perth travelodge) and your farewell dinner is Melbourne is on a restaurant tram takes 3 hours around Melbourne. Excellent dinner and atmosphere, well enjoyed by us all. Drinks flowed all night, GREAT!!!!

In New Zealand there was a welcome dinner and farewell as well. You will get a new tour manager and new travellers who have come from Hong Kong.

Hi Julie,

Yes I am going to Singapore and looking forward to the shopping as it looks brilliant, also plan on having afternoon tea in Raffles! I am not going to book any trips in advance as you never know how jet lag etc. is going to be. I went to Peru in September 2012 and was glad I hadn't booked in advance as I had a better idea once there as to what I wanted. The Peru trip was brilliant, really well organised and friendly, so I am hoping this will be the same.

Hi Eric,

Many thanks for that - it is always good to know the practicalities and I don 't want to overburden myself with luggage. The meals and trips sound great so I am really looking forward to it. I am spending extra time in Melbourne and hope to do the New Zealand trip another year, when my finances recover from this one!!

I think I will get to Terminal 3 at around 5 pm, but will confirm to you nearer the time. I don't think we can check in until 2 hrs beforehand, so it might be nice to have a coffee! Marie

Hi Julie, breaks my heart to tell you that due to an accident last weekend I will not be able to go on the trip: just out from hospital, arm broken in 2 places and no question of travelling. Will also lose a lot of money, but have to keep things in perspective - bones will heal and Oz will still be there. still, it is a terrible disappointment. Hope you and others have a wonderful trip, raise a glass for me!! Marie
