Hi Denise

I did this as my first JY trip in 2016. It is fantastic, you'll have an amazing time.

With regards to luggage, as you do all the travelling in the jeeps there is not a great deal of space, a soft case / holdall type bag is best as it's easier for them to load up the jeeps and then a rucksack for your during the day stuff.

Hi Denise

I see Paula has answered your query re the luggage. Either a small suitcase (not one with hard shell) or a soft holdall is appreciated. You do not need a big case as this is a short trip. Also try not to take a hard shell cabin bag as well as a suitcase. I use a small back pack for cabins and this is useful as you can have it on your lap in the Jeep. Have a wonderful time. Look forward to reading your review.

Hi Everyone!

I'am also on this trip in October and super excited for it! From reading Jaya's review, I think it's going to be a great adventure and I'm also really hoping we get the chance to do the hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara, as think that would be breathtaking! 😃

A couple of questions I desperately need answered please by travellers who have already done this trip - Firstly, which footwear is best? I'm currently debating as to whether to take both walking boots (mainly as protection from insect bites!) for whilst on the game drives and a pair of sandals/flip flops for when in the lodges. Would that be suitable?

Secondly, would it be problematic if I did take a hard shell luggage case? As unfortunately, those are the luggage cases that I own for long haul holidays...:-/

Lastly, is bottled water provided on a daily basis by the lodges?

Looking forward to hearing back!

Regards,

Nina

Hi Nina

Someone else may have replied before you see this but thought I share.

Footwear- I took Walking boots but never actually wore them. I spent the whole time in flip flops or walking sandals. The itinery may be slightly different from when I went but we were either in the jeep on drives or at the lodges so didn't find the need for boots. Inserts were more of an issue in the evenings but as long as you use a good repellent you should be fine.

Luggage - some people had hard shell cases, so if that's all you have it shouldn't be a problem. I think it's only really an issue if the majority of people have hard cases as there is not much space for them in the jeeps.

Water- yes all of the lodges have water in the rooms, plus there is water on the jeeps aswell for during the day.

This was my first JY trip and it was an unbelievable experience. I would definitely do this trip again. You will have a amazing time.

Hi Nina

As Paula says, there is no need for walking boots. I wore sandals all the time. I also did not take any insect repellent but if you are one of the people who gets bitten, then do take something with you.

Thank you for your responses really appreciate them . I was also wondering about footwear ( so thank you for asking Nina) but had decided a good pair sandles will probably do .

Hi Vickie,

I received my final joining instructions and luggage labels in the post yesterday for this trip but only received just one luggage label. Would it be possible to have a couple of more sent out to me?

Many thanks,

Nina  🙂
