Hi all.  Have just booked my first trip- the Venice River Cruise.  Am slightly petrified, as never travelled solo before.  Any tips or helpful hints please?  Anyone else taking this holiday? Thanks in advance M 😃

Hi

Have not done this trip but have visited Venice and the surrounding area many times. I am sure you will enjoy this trip and that this will be the first of many holidays.

I've just got back from my first ever solo holiday trip (Just You tour of cities of Italy). I was worried too, but I had a great time! I was with an excellent bunch of people, and we had a great and knowledgeable tour manager who looked after us

I'll give you a few tips about mixing with the group:

1. Look out for people with ''Just You'' tags when you get to check in at the airport. If poss, get chatting to them as they may be on your tour. The sooner you make friends with people the better.

2. Be security conscious. Don't put all your money in one coat pocket, use all of them. Be aware of your own space when visiting popular tourist attractions. Keep things in zip up or inside pockets. Use the hotel safe too.

3. Don't unpack everything at one hotel if you're going to more than one hotel on your holiday.

4. Always have water to hand if you're going somewhere hot.

5. Take (or buy) a two pin adaptor for your phone if your going to Europe for your holiday.

6. Just be chilled overall and be happy. Remember you're on holiday!

Hi Mandy, I have been enquiring about this trip. I am thinking of booking 10th July 18. I be flying from Gatwick.

I toured Italy this year with another Company. Its a beautiful city so much to see. This will be my first J Y holiday too once I confirm my dates.

Hi, I have confirmed my Venetian River Cruise today flying from Gatwick 10th July 18. I am nervous and excited.

I have been looking at JY holidays for last three years it was finding the courage to book.

I would  love to hear from anyone else who has also booked or been on this holiday. I will be travelling the day before to book into a Gatwick Hotel at the present there isn't a pre tour get together. Could somebody please recommend where to stay?

Thank you

I'd recommend the Premier Inn at the North Terminal. It's lier ally opposite the entrance to the terminal, access to the South terminal is via the monorail link, and only takes a couple of minutes. Good discounts for early bookings are normally available.

Hi Angel,

Re Gatwick hotels - I always stay in the Premier Inn. The sooner you book it, the better as prices fluctuate. You may be able to get it for as little as £29!

I go to Venice every year - on my own. It is my favourite city in the world, so enjoy!

Cheers,

Hils

Hi Angel,

Sorry I didn't make that clear - I go to Venice completely on my own - not with a company, and not with JY, so I won't see you I'm afraid!

Cheers,

Hils

Hi. I did this over Christmas 2015, not with JY, but a coach company (not much fun, flying much better). I don't know if July would be different. We boarded late evening (awful coach journey); fabulous food for the entire trip, it's a French boat, superb food although I refused the fois gras. The next morning sailed into Venice and docked at the far end of the lagoon. I loved my Christmas trip, Burano and Morano .. Padua too. Nice cabins with little tv's. The bar area is great for socialising. Enjoy.
