Hi Anna,

I did quite a bit of travelling in my 20s around Europe and further afield but then one year I went by myself on a tour to Slovenia with a mainstream travel company - I was the only single traveller and had a pretty lonely time among all the couples, although I loved Slovenia.  That put me off going on escorted tours for many years, until I came across Just You.  So I was understandably anxious about taking the plunge - again by myself, even if I knew others in the group would be in the same boat.  I went on the Treasures of Andalucia trip as it was to a part of Spain I hadn't been to before, but had been recommended by friends.  I figured it was only for a week, it wasn't very expensive so I didn't have much to lose.  I had a great week and found the group to be very friendly and I haven't looked back since.

That was seven years ago and I have done 15 JY tours since, with two more booked.  Just You has given me the courage and confidence to travel all over the world - I've been to North, Central and South America with them, to various places in Europe, Asia and Africa and the travel bug has bitten once again!

I do hope you book - it sounds like you're an experienced traveller so get a brochure and spend a few happy evenings flicking through it and decide where you'd most like to go.  I still get nervous before a holiday but once I meet some of the group, any nerves disappear.  The groups are always friendly and although you won't become best friends with all the group, you will most definitely find a couple of people to gel with and have a great time.  I am still in contact with many people that I first met through JY.

Best of luck!

Hi Anna

I lost my husband 18 years ago, then because I had never travelled by myself before I kept visiting my family in the USA. Then discovered Just you as I wanted to see the rest of the world. Have now done 29 tours, with two more booked. Yes you will be nervous, but think how good you will feel when you have completed your first trip.

Mine was to Tuscany, a wonderful place to visit.

I echo what Bob has said.  I hadn't travelled much when I found myself on my own so I chose the Monet's Garden trip as I had always wanted to see it.  It was only 4 days so I figured if I hated it, it wasn't much time out of my life and not too far away either.  However I loved the concept and haven't looked back since.  I have tried a couple of other single traveller companies and so far they don't match up to JY.

Go for it - life is too short for regrets.

Hello Anna,

My first JY trip was to Jordan, Sinai and Cairo in October 2010. I have wanted to see Petra and the Pyramids at Giza for ages and this ticked all the boxes. I saw also the Dead Sea, Jerash, Mount Nebo then Sinai and St Catherines Monastery with the Burning Bush. Suez Canal with the pyramids at Giza, Bent and Steps Pyramids. Been now to both Memphis- Tennessee and Egypt. Seen the mask in the Egyptian Museum and the Hard Rock Cafe in Cairo. Three months later and the Arab Uprising caused a lot of damage to the Museum and the Hard Rock Cafe was shut.

Petra and the magnificence of the Treasury, rode my first camel and the Siq was just wow. Paddled in the Dead Sea and the Red Sea. Walked across Wadi Rum in Lawrence of Arabias' footsteps, seeing the Seven Pillars of Wisdom that he wrote about.

At Giza, you have no idea that at the Sphinx, if you turn around, there is a KFC (Kentucky Fried Camel!) nearby and that Giza is one side of the Nile and Cairo on the other side.

So, where do you fancy going?

Hi Anna

Take the plunge I have been with Travelsphere and Just You. Every holiday met a lot of friendly fellow travellers and had a great holiday. Have met up with some travellers from previous holidays always remembered. Still keep in touch with a few from previous holidays. Join the club you won't regret it.

Try it

Keep travelling this is real life not a rehearsal

Hi Anna

I began travelling with JY in 2010 and started in a big way with a trip to China. I have a wish list of places and sights I want to see and am working my way through it. So far I have done six long haul and three european holidays. I am always a bit apprehensive when I set off on each holiday-almost turned back on my journey to the airport going on my first holiday-but I am glad I have gone on each trip.

My advice pick a trip and go for it

Hi Anna,

That is great news!  And the old saying is true, the more you put into something the more you get out of it.  I hope this will be the first of many trips with JY.  Go for it, life's too short!!

Cheers,

Hi, sorry about your husband.  My first holiday of widowhood was not a JY. I had always wanted to go to Iceland so booked a hotel, booked a flight, booked some trips and off I flew!! I felt excited and confident, and enjoyed it more than I can say.  Then I discovered JY and my first trip was to the North of Canada's to see the polar bears. We saw lots of them. Fantastic crowd of fellow travellers so I was hooked on JY.  Have travelled alone and with other companies but have to say JY is my favourite.  Go book a trip and enjoy.

I was widowed 17 years ago so I understand how you feel. Just You is fabulous. It can be pricey but worth every penny. I have been on weekend breaks, trips across Europe and exploring tours of the US. You will be well looked after by a tour guide and groups are friendly - in the same boat. You are about to start on a very great adventure if you book a holiday. I went in an ice breaker weekend in Bournemouth about 10 years ago. I. Immediately went home and booked the American Midwest tour.   Going to Tuscany in September and The US Music American tour in Nov. It's addictive ??
