Hallo everyone

I've never taken a singles holiday before but am seriously thinking about booking for next year.

At 42, my friends are either with boyfriends/husbands or those that are single, have children and therefore can't afford to go on hol with friends as well.

Sound like a real wimp but I don't like flying on my own so going my coach would be the only option.

If there's anyone out there whose like me and whose already taken the plunge - can you tell me how it went and did everyone mix-in okay ? Did you also group-up on excursions so you weren't on your own ?

Looking forward to booking when I've decided where to go !

I started going on JY holidays last year for the same reason as your looking. Im 38 so in the same age group as you.

Ive done 3 JY holidays and have the next one this September. Ive made some good friends on each trip who i keep in touch with and in september im going with someone i met on trip one.

Everyone mixes in and age isnt an issue.

Dont let the flying put you off as you all end up sat together on the plane so its a good way to get to know people as theres little else to do on a flight!

Find a holiday you like and go for it - you wont regret it I promise

Hiya,

I've recently returned from Peru and the Amazon Rainforest and I can tell you it was amazing. It was my first JY holiday and my first long haul and I had my 42nd birthday whilst I was there. Just be prepared to go with the flow and take everything at face value and you'll have a fab time. Go for it!

Hallo Kara

Thanks for your reply and words of encouragement.

I think I'll start off with a short break somewhere - from looking at the JY website, there are quite a few 5 day breaks.

You never know, our paths might cross at sometime.

Thanks again !

Hi Clare.

I was in a similar position to you about 17 Months ago. Since then I have been on 4 coach holiday's. I can recommend "Walking In The Ahr Valley"Which is a 5 day trip. Even if you are not into walking, they are not particularly difficult. Everyone mixes very well. However no one is pressured. If anyone wants to be on their own. That is fine. But generally most mix extremely well. And as for breaking into Groups, this tends to happen too, when on excursions,They break into anything from 2 to 4. Then in the evening we party.
