Hi all you lucky people going to Tibet in September!

I was one of those who did the first trip in May, and I have written to JY with some suggestions on how to improve the tour. I would be most grateful if somebody could write a Review when you come back. I doubt whether they will change the itinerary but at least you will now have water available on the bus at all times! Also, I really recommend that you see your doctor/practice nurse before you go, to enquire about taking Diamox with you, which helps greatly towards altitude sickness. You will be going to a height of 16,000 feet on one day, and never below 12,000 feet all the time you are in Tibet.

I hope you have a fantastic time. I have written Reviews on both my trip and also the Hong Kong add-on.

Cheers,

Hils

Hello Hils

Thank you very much for taking the time to write to Customer Services in the hopes that the holiday could be improved for us future travellers to The Roof of The World.

The water on the coach is certainly a good start especially for me as I do get through loads of the stuff. I had been wondering how many bottles could I get in my rucksack airside at Chengdu enroute for Tibet!!

As for the itinerary I can see that there is not enough time to acclimatize in Lhasa before embarking on the tour to Gyantse and Shigatse. The couple of days in Lhasa should really be before going on this road trip and not afterwards.

I did read your review as soon as it was posted.

I will be happy to write a review on my return if no one else wants to.

Once again thanks for your efforts on behalf of us doing the trip on later dates.

Enjoy Chile and Easter Island.

Best wishes

Di

Hi Chris,

I suggest you have a look at my Review - under  Search (top right hand corner of this page) and put in Roof of the World May 2017. I don't know what the weather will be like in October - perhaps Google it - but I was very glad of a thermal top and thick socks for that night in Gyantse. I always take a light waterproof jacket wherever I go, just in case. The mornings in Tibet I wore a fleece, but for most of the time it was t-shirts and crop trousers. Even if it is not sunny, you can burn at altitude, so a hat and suncream are vital.

Enjoy!

Cheers,

Hils
