Hello

I have just booked this new tour. I made the 7th booking on it.

Has anyone else on the forum booked it, but I know it is very early days yet.

Needed something to focus on after the wonderful Borneo tour.

Kind regards

Di

Hello Di

Seven already! Yes, I am intending to go either in September or October - September for preference, but it all depends on whether I have enough time in the UK during June/July/August to get the visa and Tibet travel permit beforehand. It will certainly be different from our Borneo trip!

Before that, I am hoping to go with Travelsphere on their "Tibet & the Search for Shangri-La" holiday this October (the two itineraries are completely different apart from Lhasa and Gyantse, and both very attractive) - but we need two more participants before it can be cleared to go - so if anyone out there is thinking of this, please go ahead and book now before the tour is cancelled!

Hi Jim

You have got me thinking re the Travelsphere hol this October.

I have kept looking at this the past 2 years

The Just You one is brilliant but I have been to Guilln, Chendu etc about 18 years ago and I dont want to spoil those wonderfull memories

I did this with Russia and wished I hadnt

Just rung Travelsphere to find out the flight times and now I am going to do a bit more research into this hol

I was booked on the Athens tour in April but had to cancell as my daughter died

SO to everyone reading this get as many holidays in as you can as you never know what life is going to throw at you

Luv Sue 🙂

I'm really hoping to book the 3 Sept Roof of the World trip. I'm waiting to see if I can get the holiday from work but keeping an eye on the numbers in the meantime so if it's filling up I'll have to take a chance!

Sue, So sorry to hear about your daughter. I totally agree with you and have always believed that life is too short and one must not waste time in thinking and dithering. This is why I am trying to do as many long haul holidays as I can at the moment depending on the funds and time available.

Hi Di

This is one holiday which is now on my ever growing wish list. I am off to South Africa and Zambia in September and next year is almost sorted, so this trip will have to wait. Hopefully it will not be rested for a while. Do write a review on your return.

Best wishes

Jaya

Hi Di,

You'll recall we done the TS Peru trip within a fortnight of each other. I intend doing the Roof of the World trip in May 2017 and have booked the time off from work. I just need to do the deed and get it booked. You've put me in the mood - this could be the weekend I give JY a call.

Hi Jim

Hope you are in the UK enough then next summer so you will have time to get your visa for the September departure as that is your favoured date. It would be nice to recognize someone else on the tour.

I have previously looked at the TS version of this tour, but for one reason or another have never booked it, probably because it is TS and not JY.

Totally opposite to Borneo then, perhaps we might see a few yaks or even the abominable snowman lol though. I know your camera will be ready.

Hope the TS trip gets the green light and you enjoy the holiday.

All the best

Hi Sue

Very sorry to hear about your daughter.

I understand that we don't know what's round the corner and agree with you and Jaya about travelling.

Can also appreciate that sometimes when you have great memories of a holiday, it isn't always a good idea to return. However it can work! I have returned to Malta a few times without my late husband and felt very relaxed and happy that I had got there alone.

Hope you book one of the Tibetan holidays. If you decide on the TS version check how many other solo travellers are going though!

Regards

Hello AMG

Hope that you can get the time off work for this holiday.

At least I don't have to think about that as I am retired.

Hi Angie

Yes, I can recall that we did the Peru trip within weeks of each other.

Was last weekend THE weekend then that you booked this holiday for 14th May.

I didn't want to go that date because it is my son's 40th birthday, thought I better be around for that!

Please, will you do a review on your return?

Happy travelling for where ever you are going next

Regards

Hi Di

Would be lovely if you can join me in March next year for the Costa Rica / Nicaragua trip - it is getting harder and harder to decide where to go next with so much choice. I will have to really think as to where I want to travel in 2018 as next year is sorted. I have now made up my mind to go to Sri Lanka next year in October or November (possibly November).

Hi Jaya

Thank you for suggesting that I could join you on the Costa Rica trip. Unfortunately at this stage I cannot commit myself to this trip as I have other plans for the New Year which may come into fruition, in which case i wouldn't like to let down other people who I have got these plans with.

However, as we all know things can change!!

All the best for now

Hi Dina,

I haven't got back to you because I didn't book the weekend I said I would - but I've booked it this weekend!

I'm the 6th to book on my tour in May.

I'll certainly write a small review when I get back and let you know how we got on.

Hi Angie

If I have got it right you are booked for Roof of the World 14 May 2017? If so - so am I! It seems that so far there are 6 on the main tour plus 2 taking the add on to Hong Kong. (I was the first to book a couple of months ago - never booked a holiday so well in advance before!) I have always wanted to visit Tibet, and couldn't resist going back to Chengdu to see the Pandas again. Never been to the other area of China included on this trip or Hong Kong either - so  🙂

Look forward to meeting you!

May have to change my avatar from Orang Utans to Pandas or Yaks nearer the date!

Hi Di shorter hair

Great minds think alike! Sorry we are not on the same trip this time  - I just couldn't wait! So I am off on the pioneering May trip.

Hope you are keeping well. I have still not finished going through my Borneo photos - in fact I keep finding ones I am sure I have never seen before or I finally find that the reason I took the photo is hidden in the leaves - never delete!

Lets hope we catch up on another holiday……..

Well hello 1981Kedi !

I sure am going on the same date as you ... it's always good to be in touch with someone via the forum.

I think if you are pretty sure you want to do a particular holiday and not miss out you are just as well to get it booked.

I've never been to China (except Hong Kong which in my mind doesn't really count) so this is all new to me - I'm not doing add on. I always forget about the numbers doing the add on. That's a healthy number so early on.

I take you were on the Borneo tour ... you can tell me all about it in Tibet!

I look forward to meeting you too. I'm sure we'll be in touch again on the forum before then.

Hi Kedi

I am sorry we are not on the same trip. I would have loved to have gone on the pioneering date. However, my son will be 40 on the 14th May, so even if I don't see him I will be in England.

Ne'er mind you and Angie, I think, will put up posts on your return and whet my appetite for Tibet even more.

I did read your excellent tips post about Borneo, no doubt they have been and will continue to be very useful to Borneo travellers. Am looking forward to reading more reviews on that 2nd Borneo holiday soon.

Nope, haven't sorted all my photos yet--but OK,have printed 560. Should have edited them better though, cos at least half are useless. I always have albums still, then I bore my friends!

I have also always wanted to go to Tibet and I have never been to China. Am hoping we see the cormorant fishermen on the Li river, but s'pose that will be doubtful as i think they only use cormorants when tourists are around now. OK we are tourists.  Chengdu Panda Reserve will be great especially after Sepilok.

Yaks, yetis (lol) prayer wheels and prayer flags awesome.

I hope that you are keeping well, hope to meet you again on another trip

Best wishes

from the shorter haired one.
