I'm going to Borneo in May with the Singapore add on.  Really looking forward to it but a bit anxious about leaches!  Can anyone give me some tips about them and how to avoid them please.  Also is it advisable to take local currency or possibly US dollars and exchange into local currency when we get there? Many thanks, Joy

Hi

we did Borneo last May and no need to worry about leaches as we didn't encounter any, as for currency, Malaysian Dollars was the currency we used

you'll have a wonderful time

Hello Joy

I was on the first Borneo trip last May and didn't see any leeches.

Just search for "leeches" and you will find the others.

You will enjoy Borneo, even if you don't come across any leeches!

Jim

PS - there are some useful tips about Borneo here:

This includes a discussion about currency - and a mention of leeches at the end of the thread

Hi Joy,

I'm on the May Borneo trip but not the add on.  I've been in the Amazon rain Forest and the Costa Rican rain Forest and had no trouble with leaches so fingers crossed for Borneo.  As for currency, I've just bought a good amount of Malaysian Ringgit which is the local currency.  A bit early I know but I'm hopefully preemptive any drop in the pound which may follow on from Brexit.  Exchange rates are always a bit of a gamble.  I'll also be taking a couple of bank cards in case I need more.

Really getting excited now!!! Look forward to meeting you!!!
