Hello, just wondering if anyone is planning to visit the Uffizi on the trip to Florence?  As the recommendation is to book directly online to avoid the queues with a suggested visiting time of 1.15pm (which will presumably fit in with the timing of  things we're doing as a group), it's something I'd like to do so thought I'd check to see if others are considering this also. Best wishes, Karen

Hi Karen

Further to my message just now - have just looked at the website for this - and it appears that we can only book tickets for this at 9am , 10.30 am 12.30 pm and 15.00 pm.....Not sure why there is a suggested visiting time of 1.15pm - and whether any of these other times would work with the rest of the trip that day.

Maybe I'm getting confused but perhaps JY could let us know if any of the other times work?

Claire

Karen.... the website www.uffizi.org - only seems to have the times I said in other message. However - I have now found Uffizi.com - which is offering other time slots including the 1.15pm.  Are you going to book this?  Claire

Hi Claire, I've spoken to a very helpful lady called Lindsay at JY who did some digging and she was advised that we could book a place on the 12.30pm tour but we need to make the the tour guide aware of this at the start.  I'm going to go ahead and try to book, hopefully you'll be able to do the same.

Best wishes, Karen

Hi Claire, it's a bit frustrating the way this forum works - it takes such a long time for posts to appear! I've booked the 12.30pm tour on The Uffizi website under the Florence Tickets heading.  It cost 23 Euros - 16.50 plus a 6.50 booking fee.  My ticket came through this afternoon as a PDF which I'll print out and bring along as the instructions are a bit contradictory as to whether or not producing an electronic copy will suffice.  Hopefully you've received my other messages by now and we've managed to book the same thing!  Karen

Hi All

A reminder for anyone who wants to meet on Monday evening at T5 departure hall's Carlucci's from 5.30.  So far, only Elizabeth has responded.  Contact the editor for my mobile number.  I will have my JY wallet visible.

I sent a post on Monday to the TM which hasn't yet been posted let alone replied to querying free time in Florence, the length of the final walk and the free day location

Regards

Paul

Hi All

Just got news that we are now staying in Montecatini Terme (inland from Lucca) and that there are 30 on the trip, tour manager Sylvia Barzanti. Elizabeth: I did some walking north of Siena in April and May and everyone had small backpacks (apart from me: I just carried one or two bottles of water.)  The paths were good although I was glad of a walking stick for the short downhill bits on stones.

I am staying at Heathrow Monday night so if anyone wants to meet they should contact the editor to exchange phone numbers. There's a Carluccio's in Terminal 5 opens at 5.30

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul

I'm staying near Hrow on Monday night - but not sure what time I'm getting there at the moment - as I am working on Monday. If I manage to get there at a reasonable time - I will try to make it.  How do I get the Ed to let me know your phone number?
