Hello, I'm really looking forward to this holiday, which will be my first solo trip abroad.  I'd love to hear from anyone else who's booked on the same trip  🙂

Hi Kaz

I've just booked this holiday and have done several JY holidays but not to Italy.  Have you seen the 9 February review of Flavours of Tuscany including a few of the places we visit?

Regards

Paul

Hi Kaz it's good to hear from you. I just booked the last place on this trip yesterday and I'm really looking forward to it now like you!  I've been on a couple of JY holidays before but this will be my first walking holiday... I see this will be your first solo trip - that's both exciting and a little bit scary - at least it was for me - maybe not for you though - we're all different - turned out most people were friendly though and some had shared similar experiences. Have you done some walking before? If you have it would be good to hear any tips you have on what we need to take etc. It's good to hear from you before we actually meet up on the holiday. Are you staying at Heathrow the night before the flight or do you live close by the airport? Look forward to meeting you and hope to hear from you again

Best wishes ElizabethF

Hi Paul,

I haven't seen the review yet, but thanks for the tip and I'll endeavour to find it!  I've wanted to visit Tuscany for quite a while, and this holiday seems ideal as I really enjoy walking and the optional excursion to Florence was a no-brainer.  It's reassuring to note you've used JY previously, it'll be my first holiday abroad on my own and it was a bit of a leap of faith as to choosing the right company.

Best wishes

Karen

Hi Kaz, Elizabeth and Paul,

I am booked on this tour and can't wait as I've been dreaming of visiting Tuscany for a long time and a walking holiday seemed the best way to see the countryside ?. Have also booked the excursion Package so hopefully will get the best of both worlds! Lovely to see that there are posts and looking forward to meeting everyone too. I have travelled on my own once - it was a coach trip of New England but not with solo's, met some lovely people but felt a bit 'on my own' . I'm hoping if this is a success will book New Zealand for Oct next year ?

Hi everyone, it's great to hear from a couple more people - we now won't be strangers when we meet!

In answer to your queries Elizabeth, I do quite a lot of walking with my dog, usually with friends and their dogs too. I'm looking forward to walks in the Tuscan warmth and sunshine (hopefully) as we don't get a huge amount of either in Wales! I don't think any of the planned walks will be too strenuous so probably a comfortable pair of walking shoes and a small rucksack for carrying a bottle of water would suffice. I'll be staying with my son near Richmond the night before so will be getting a taxi to Heathrow on the day.

Ellie, I've been longing to visit Tuscany too, and to combine it with some walking seems ideal to me. I've been to Rome on two occasions and loved it, but people tell me Florence is even better. You'll have to tell me all about New England, as that's on my bucket list too, as is New Zealand!

Only 24 weeks and one day to go!

Hi All

Just got news that we are now staying in Montecatini Terme (inland from Lucca) and that there are 30 on the trip, tour manager Sylvia Barzanti. Elizabeth: I did some walking north of Siena in April and May and everyone had small backpacks (apart from me: I just carried one or two bottles of water.)  The paths were good although I was glad of a walking stick for the short downhill bits on stones.

I am staying at Heathrow Monday night so if anyone wants to meet they should contact the editor to exchange phone numbers. There's a Carluccio's in Terminal 5 opens at 5.30

Regards

Paul

Good morning , I'm sure you all know by now that the hotel has been changed , bit disappointed as the original one looked so relaxing and idyllic! Does anyone know if the change of location has an impact on the itenary ? Looking forward to this regardless of change but am disappointed that no details have been sent .

Hi All

This will be my first solo holiday...and really looking forward to meeting some new friends ..as I hope we will become.

Really looking forward to some lovely Tuscan sun, scenery, Italian food and wine.....if I walk a lot in the day think that justifies some good food and wine in the evenings!

I will be staying at Heathrow on the Monday evening ...18th..just not sure where yet...but if others around that evening would be good to meet up

Hope we all have a great holiday

Claire

Hi Ellie,

Not all of the team are in today so I do apologise in that I haven't been able to find out why you ave not yet been contacted regarding the hotel change. I have however managed to find out that the itinerary will remain the same as feedback from other travellers has been very positive. The difference you will find is that some journey times will be shorter, and some will be a little longer.

Kindest regards

Julia

Hi Claire, we'll be in the same boat so to speak, as this will be my first solo holiday abroad too.  It seems several people are staying at Heathrow the night before.  My son lives near Kew Gardens so I've opted to stay there and get a cab to the airport in the morning.  I look forward to meeting you soon.

Best wishes, Karen

Hi Ellie, yes the original hotel did indeed look idyllic, but hopefully we won't be disappointed with the replacement.  I'm quite pleased the transfer time is shorter, and the only impact on the itinerary is travelling times as far as I'm aware.  I'm sure more details will be forthcoming soon.

Best wishes, Karen

Good afternoon all, I'm sure the new hotel and location will be perfect - so looking forward to it and meeting everyone ?. Claire I'm definitely thinking all the walking certainly means we can justify some good Italian food and wine ! Karen I've not had anything official sent re hotel change just phone call but like you I'm pleased the transfer time is shorter too . Am very excited and really looking forward to finally visiting one of my dream places .

See you all soon, Eileen

To all those booked on "walking in Tuscany" 19th Sept 2017, you may have been confused by the addition of a new and different hotel on the website. I have rung "Just You" for clarification and they assure me that the we are still going to the Grand Hotel Tamerici in Montecatini Terme as notified by phone calls some time ago. The new one listed is for future bookings. The website still doesn't show any details of our hotel but I found some on the internet if you would like to see them, just google it.

Look forward to seeing you all at the airport. Just under 5 weeks to go. ???

Thanks for the info John.  The reviews on tripadvisor and hotels.com are mostly good, so here's hoping!  Looking forward to seeing everyone very soon.  Karen ?
