Hi there.
I too will want to be prepared for any other sightseeing I will want to do. Definately ride the subway. I saw on one of the reviews that there are no stops when taking the coach around the city. On one occasion someone got off the coach at Ground Zero in order to spend more time there. I too want to spend time there. I'd also like to do a horse and carriage ride around central park. I'm happy enough to do these things on my own if no one wants to join me. I'm sure we can all chat about it at the airport and hotel. X
Hi all,
I went to NYC in September and I see some of your comments and thought I'd share my experience. On the coach trips you get various stop offs usually only for 15-30 minutes but you do get them, for example we went to Washington Square Park, Rockafella Centre (day and eve), ground zero (one of our party stayed as wanted longer time there). We used the subway to go to Central Park on the Sunday, overall we experienced subway, coach, bus, taxi and ferry whilst there (oh and helicopter if you chose to do it) so you get to travel around in all different ways to get a full experience. Once the Central Park tour has finished (or you don't have to do it) you have free time so can take a horse and carriage ride (we saw them when we got there), our group all split off for that afternoon and either went shopping, the high line etc.
If you sign up to all the excursions you do not get a lot of free time but I'm glad I signed up to them all as I don't think I would have seen half of the sights otherwise. It has made me want to go back and I certainly will.
Our group kept splitting up, for example somebody would say they wanted to do X and asked if anybody else wanted to join leaving it up to people to join or do their own thing, it was all very relaxed and different people doing different things together.
It is a jam packed holiday but it is well worth it and I hope you all enjoy yourselves, you're making me jealous already.
