Hi Everyone

I'm very interested in going on a Just you holiday next year. My names Louise and im 35yrs old from Dorset.  Im looking at either Croatia or Id like to do one in Italy.  Does anyone know if they are running the Rome/Sorrento trip next year, I see its sold out this year but would be interested for next year.  The Pompeii/Sorrento one looks interesting too but not sure if would get bored when not on the trips as not sure if its near the coast? and I do like to walk around 🙂   So that's why I thought the Croatia ones might be good as they are near promenades. And look really scenic too.  If anyone has been on any of these trips and can offer any insight that would be great.

Thank you x

Hi Louise

I did the Dubrovnik and Dalmatian Coast holiday in May and really enjoyed th variety of outings. Croatia is beautiful and you could walk around Cavtat where the hotel is situated. Have also been to Sorrento but not with JY. This too is a lovely area with lots to do and see. Either of these holidays will give you the experience you are looking for.

Hope this helps

Hi Louise.  Welcome to the JY Forum.  :)

Sorrento is my old stamping ground, although I haven't been for many years, and never with JY.  What can I say?  It has always been busy there, but the scenery is wonderful.  If you want to be on the coast then I hope that JY do the Rome/Sorrento trip next year.

As for Croatia?

I haven't been to Makarska for many years, but the scenery is stunning, it's still relatively inexpensive in Croatia and there are lots of good walks.  I did the Istrian Riviera trip last year, and that is a good value holiday which I can personally recommend.  The hotel is right on the Lungomare and you literally can walk miles by the sea.

I was on the Dubrovnik Rivera trip this May, and we did have some problems with the hotel which I certainly hope will be ironed out for next year.  Cavtat where the hotel is, is a beautiful spot and I would certainly recommend it for a base.  Again it is a good value holiday with many great excursions.

If you want to know more, I am more than happy to help with any queries if I can.

Hi Louise

Welcome to the JY Community!

I did the Pompeii/Sorrento tour last September and had a ball - it was a super group. If you type 'Pompeii' into the search function on the top right of the page, you will find various reviews and tips, including mine, for the trip.

Happy to help if you have any other questions. Pompeii itself is not on the coast but the hotel is very central and the station for the Circumvesuviana railway, which is a loop route around the area is right opposite, so you could go off exploring in your down time if you wanted to. We certainly packed a lot in and there wasn't time to be bored! I would certainly recommend the trips to Capri, the Amalfi drive and Herculaneum.....not to mention the local gelato 🙂

Go for it - you won't regret it

All the best

I went on the one to Markaska Riviera in Croatia and would highly recommend it. The scenery was lovely and we had some lovely trips to Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik, also a day boat trip to Brac and Havar which was very enjoyable and relaxing. The hotels were both very good and excellent food. The hotel in Petrane is in a very quiet location with just some houses nearby where the locals live and very peaceful with nice walks nearby. Tucepi is abit bigger but again the hotel is next to the beach and you can walk along the prom. I thoroughly enjoyed the holiday.

Hi Louise - I have been to Croaitia several times and in fact I am booked to go on the Istrian Coast tour on the 21st Sept. The Coast in that area is beautiful and not over commercialised. We visited Opatia the last time I was there and this tour stays very near , so just on this basis I can recomment it. I was trying to establish if the tour guide was V a fantastic tour guide - fingers X. Hope this helps you with your decision. Capt P.

Hi Loua,

I am not sure if the Rome/Sorrento trip is on for next year.  But if you post your question in the "ask the editor" section - they should be able to help you.

I went on the Dubrovnik & The Dalmatian Riviera holiday this May and can highly recommend it.  There is a great little town called Cavtat within walking distance, shops and cafe's etc and JY take you on lots of trips to places that are lovely to explore - Mostar was a particular highlight for me, as was the Elafiti Islands excursion..

Whilst on my trip to Croatia, I met some fabulous people who told me that Croatia's Istrian Coast holiday with JY is equally fantastic.  I am hoping if funds will allow to do this one next year.

Wherever you decide to go, I am sure you will have a fantastic time.

Hi - Sorry for late reply - Im no good with these things and couldn't find my original post - so only just seen this. Thank you all for your input. I think its going to be between the Istrian Coast as that looks lovely and def ticks the box for walking around and has some ruins/natural sights inc. Ive also been looking at the Athens , Olympia and Corinth tour. As I would like to combine ancient ruins with also time near the coast. Has anyone done this tour? Thanks so much. Im really looking forward to booking something soon. Been enjoying looking through the brochures , its just soo hard to decide 🙂 x

Hi Ioua,

I have done the Athens, Olympia and the Corinth tour and it was truly an amazing holiday - I loved every minute of it. It was made even better by sharing the trip with a fabulous group of like minded people. To date it is still one of my favorite adventures... so I would definitely recommend that one.

What ever you decide I am sure you will have a great time.

I too loved Athens , Olympia and Corinth.

Non stop fascinating sites , but also enough time for great food and good company.

Hi Kezzer

Thank you.  When you did the tour do you actually get to go into the acropolis and the other ruins to look around or is it just viewing them from the outside. And if you do - is that inc in the price or extra

Thank you 🙂 xx

Hi Ioua,

I did this holiday last year in May last year - it was a brand new holiday at the time and I was on the first trip. Yes they take you to visit the acropolis and many other ancient sites including Olympia and Delphi. There is a mixture of included and optional tours - I did all the optional excursions too which I really enjoyed. There are some days where you are on the coach a lot - but the scenery on the way was stunning and with all the new friends you make along the way, the time passed quickly. I found it to be one of those tours that keeps on giving...

The itinerary might have changed a bit since I went, but I am sure it will be equally brilliant.
