Hello,

I have recently booked this, my first JY holiday for September.

Is there anyone out there also going then? I am feeling a bit nervous about the "singles holiday concept" so would like to get to know someone a little beforehand if possible.

Also, anyone who has been on this trip before? I don'tr want to go with alot of preconceived ideas but if there is any sensible advice that can be passed on, I would appreciate it.

Many thanks

Jaya

Dear 'mrsd'

There is no need to be nervous when travelling with Just You. Just You is for solo travellers and there is no 'singles holiday concept' at all. Everyone is in the same boat and are there to enjoy the holiday in the company of their fellow travellers. I have not been on this holiday, but to date have been on 13 Just You holidays and have enjoyed each and every one. The only sensible advice I can give you is sit back, relax and enjoy yourself.

Kind regards

Jaya

Hello Mrs D

Try not to be nervous about taking a Just You holiday. I know it is easier said than done. I was very nervous after I booked my first trip back in 2005 to India. Travelling to the airport was quite nerve wracking but once at the airport and having met fellow travellers all nervousness disappeared. I always look for JY luggage labels.

As Jaya said everyone is in the same boat and everyone has at least one thing in common to talk about-the holiday itself.

I have now booked my 13th holiday with Just You and am totally addicted.

I went on The heart of Alpine Europe tour in September 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The weather was quite warm and we did get some rain. Unfortunately on the Mountain adventure day when we arrived in Heiden, where we should have had beautiful views of Lake Constance there was thick fog.

There were plenty of highlights on this short European adventure.

The views from the train going to St. Moritz were spectacular, although I didn't particularly like St.Moritz.

We went on a cable car up a mountain. I think it was called DIe Dampskopf. The cable car terminated at a restaurant but before we stopped for drinks, a few of us managed to scramble up the rough terrain to the summit.

Lindau, on the shore of Lake Constance, is particularly picturesque.

However, my main memory was whilst we were travelling through Appenzell. We were incredibly lucky we were held up. Initially we didn't know why. We encountered the cows coming down from the Alms to their winter pastures. There were literally hundreds all decorated with cow bells and flowers. They belonged to different farms and each group of cattle had it's farmer or herder whatever he's called in traditional dress. Apart from the cows there were goats all being shepherded down by small children also in traditional costume. What a wonderful sight. I do hope that you are as lucky as we were.

Finally the hotel was great with entertainment in the evening. On the last morning we were all given a white flannel with the hotel's name on. After getting on our coach to depart the hotel staff all came and stood outside waving flannels at us and we were expected to wave ours back at them. a very nice gesture.

Finally, I should mention the lovely Elaine who was our excellent Tour Manager and a fount of all knowledge.

Happy travelling with Just You and kind regards

Di

Hi, it's easy to say don't be nervous but anything you haven't tried before will always be a bit of a challenge.  There really is no need to be concerned, I've only had one JY holiday (going on a second one in a few weeks) and everyone on the holiday is there for the same reason as you, to enjoy themselves.  On reading the forum it would seem that groups of travellers are usually around 20-25, so not too big.  You won't have everything in common with everyone in the group but that's part of the joy for me, you will meet people that you would not meet ordinarily. I am actually thinking of taking this holiday myself, knowing my luck it will probably be sold out by now, it does look good.

Thanks you for this advice, it has been really helpful.

Also been useful being told some of the highlights, definitely some camera moments to be had.
