Hi folks, nice to meet you all!   I have been on a few travelsphere holidays in the past and always enjoyed them. This time I will be going alone.  Has anybody done the Carcassonne trip?  how did you enjoy it?   Its bit more awkward to fly with "just you"  as they dont seem to have any departures from scottish airports!!

Hi

Not done the Carcassonne holiday but have been travelling from Scotland with JY since 2010. I have done mainly long haul trips and one to Apulia which also meant I had to travel to London. This year I am going to Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian Coast from Edinburgh in May and Sicily in September from Gatwick.

I have enjoyed all my trips so far and can only suggest that you go ahead and book your chosen holiday.

Hi Pauly

Carcassonne was my first JY trip - from Glasgow to LHR, I was living near oOban then.

For me the timing of the tour was not the best.  We arrived on a Friday and since the only meals included were breakfast and dinners on the first and last nights we were left to our own devices, although the TM was a great help for those fit enough to walk all day and walk into town and back in the evening, which I am not.  The hotel restaurant was closed Sunday and Monday evenings and since it was also a Bank Holiday weekend so were a lot of the local eateries.  Arriving on a Tuesday would have made far more sense.

The hotel, I think it was the Grand, (the website doesn't say and I have dumped the brochure) was good.  However, the last evening they stuck us in a side room - looked like a 3rd class conference room, and if I had privately ordered the meal were were served I would have sent it back.

If you go to the search area and type in Albi it should come up with the review I posted.

Happy travelling

Sylvia

Hi Paul, I did the Albi and Carcassonne trip in September last year and enjoyed it. I did write a review, which you should be able to find under the review sections.

Hi Paul, just back from Mexico, Guatemala and Belize, next trip booked is to Burma on 31st October - but am hoping to book a short trip within Europe to go in the next few months, just looking at what is available on the dates I can do.

If you like the look of a trip, go for it.

Hi Paul, and a belated welcome. I have done several JY trips over the last few years, and have two JY trips booked for this year - Cruising the Coastline of Croatia in August and Wild Borneo in November. Plus, in June, I am off for a week in Suffolk with some great friends who I originally met on a JY trip. This will be the second year that we have done the same thing, as we enjoyed it so much last year.

Wherever you go, I hope you have a great time and meet some great people.

Try doing a new posting with the heading of the tour name and date, asking if anybody had booked etc,you might get some people answer you on that thread. Also not everybody uses this facility...

I have done many holidays far and wide since joining in 2006 they have all be great for many different reasons, but I have seen some great sights of this world, and met some great people...so give it a go.
