Hello everyone, my name is James and I have just stumbled upon this site after browsing the web for holidays and excursions.

So far some of the holidays seem really interesting so I have yet to book as I am still choosing, I just wanted to say hello and ask a few questions if I may.

Firstly and I don't mean to appear rude by asking but what sort of age groups use these types of holidays?, its not that I have issues or concerns, but I was just a bit curious as to the type of people I may meet, I am in my mid thirties and I get on with everyone its just I cant help shake the mental picture of the of that coach trip series on TV.

Hi There

I am also new to the Just You community and have booked my first trip to Andalucia in August. As far as I'm aware there is a wide range of ages who go on the holidays with the majority being in their 50s/60s. I am 38 so will probably be on the younger end of the scale but am looking forward to meeting lots of new people and don't see age as an issue. Just pick a holiday that appeals to you and go for it :-)

Hello there

I am 53 and have been on 10 tours since 2006....at 30 ish you will be in the younger age range...you can be in group from age 20-80 I would say the main age is 55-70.. If you see a tour you like the look of, post the tour into the editors section and they can answer with the age range who have booked and the male female ratio...

People of all ages and walks of life get on really well, at then end of the day it's only for a short while. I have had great chats with younger and older than I am. I have also been out walked by people older than me

Very safe way to travel and great fun.

If I can help with anything at all just ask..

Cindy

Hee hee Coach trip! I don't think it is like that. Having said that I haven't actually been yet! I'm going on my first Just you holiday to Italy in September. I'm 31 so probably at the younger end but everyone is so friendly on the forums that I'm not worried.

Cindy and Ruth, thank you both very much for being kind enough to reply to my question, its sounds perfect!!.

Just by the way in which you both replied makes me feel that its the sort of thing I will like and appreciate.

Now if I can only make my mind up on where to go ! I am torn between so many places I will have to go to a few I think!!!

once again thank you 🙂

Hi James, welcome to JY! I'm 43 and have been travelling with JY for the last 3 years - I've done 5 tours in that time. Only once have I been the youngest! I agree with what the others have said and to be honest, I've usually ended up spending the most time with folks that are a bit older than me as they are usually the best fun! People on JY tours usually mix well together regardless of age. Hope you take the plunge and book whichever holiday appeals to you most. I'm hopefully off to the National Parks and Canyons of the US in Sept and I've just booked Costa Rica and Nicargua for next March (should be amazing!).

All the best,

Bob

Hello James,

All ages are represented and you will find that you have so much fun. The youngest I have known was in her late 20s and the oldest was in her 80s. I am 56 and find that the older group have a lot more go than us youngsters. The biggest problem is women to men ratio. I have been on 2 trips and maybe 2 or 3 men on each trip. Luckily I am not using it to find a man or I would be bitterly disappointed :(

Hi

Go for a tour that interests you and you're going to join a group of people who also found it interesting. I've been on two very different holidays with JY - Costa de la Luz in 2011 (great resort hol, age range 50-80) and Cuba in 2012 (fab touring hol, age range 35 -85) and (at 56/7) got the dubious accolade of 'best able to stay up late (drinking) and still get up early' on both occasions! Makes me sound like a right dypso but its really slight of glass - I just go slowly and don't need much sleep!!! Have booked on the National Parks and Canyons tour in September and looking forward to that although I don't expect rum to be as plentiful or cheap as Cuba!

Sometimes age matters and sometimes its just a number - choose what appeals and look forward to some interesting and even surprising conversations with people you never expected to meet let alone go on holiday with.

Hi,

Age ranges vary although they tend to be 40 plus. I am now 26 but started using JY when i was 21. There have been many threads on this subject but in the end everyone is out there to have a great time and enjoy the destination and you quickly realise how irrelevant your age becomes.

Thanks

Mark

Hello everyone,

Thanks for your question James and all the lovely replies. I‘m 31 and going on my first Just You holiday in October. I feel better now knowing there is a varied age range and others are in their 30’s and younger too. It was confirmed I was the youngest on my tour when I booked, but that didn’t put me off.

Everyone on the holiday already has something in common – an interest in the place we are all adventuring to, so that’s a good start.

I decided to book with Just You as my friends are not in a position to go on holiday with me, so I didn’t want this to stop me exploring the places I want to see. Having never travelled on my own I was nervous, so Just You seemed to offer the perfect solution. Plus having my own hotel room was a big bonus. I’m looking forward to the adventure.

Hi Karen,

"An adventure" ~~ that's exactly how to look on a JY holiday. You never know (exactly) where you're going, nor who you are going to meet.

Look upon it with an open mind and you'll have a great time, meet some wonderful people and see some awesome sights!!

Enjoy!!

Regards,

Denise.
