Hi everyone and Happy New Year.

Just a thought - having perused the new brochure - about the new Jersey, Island of Flowers tour.

I'm not going on the trip (because I live here!) but I'd be happy to answer any questions about the Island for anyone thinking of booking. I know I'm biased but it really is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures!

One tip - You do not need passports to travel to the Channel Islands from the UK but, as the trip includes a day in St Malo, it is essential that you bring them.

All the best

I would love to visit Jersey, but getting to the ferry is a no go for me. Hopefully, if the holiday is popular enough, a flight option will be offered later

When my MIL visited Jersey (from England) a couple of years ago, she did need to take photo ID although not necessarily a passport. However, she flew, and that may have been a requirement of the airline.

Hi RosieMo

You are right - if you are travelling purely to the Channel Islands, photo ID is sufficient. However, the Jersey tour includes a day trip to St Malo in France, so you must have your passport with you. Jersey is not part of the EU and is not a Shengen country. I hope this clarifies.

Whilst writing - Sarah - if it helps, the ferry from Poole is not a traditional 'Channel Ferry' it's a super fast catamaran. Very smooth and comfortable. I hope you get to come and see us on the Little Island!

All the best

Thanks Mandy!

I visited Jersey several years ago, and really enjoyed it. A walking holiday in Jersey would be a real treat! Great sea canoeing as well (according to my sons :shy:).

Thanks Mandy. It's not the ferry that's the problem. It the problem of getting to Poole to catch it!

Hi Sarah

I am sure you can book your own cheap flight to Jersey and then join the tour there. I went to Jersey on holiday years ago and really liked the Island. This was the year when the first Jurassic Park movie was on - I remember this vividly as we saw the movie in Jersey! Since then I have been on short 'business trips' a few times in 2012. You will love Jersey. Guernsey too is lovely.

Julia,

Could you tell me if an independant flight as suggested, would be an option on this holiday please

Hi Sarah,

Based on a comment back in November the team have worked on a couple of options and, subject to availability, flights are available for the Jersey - Islands of flowers tour from the following airports for a supplement.

Aberdeen, Birmingham, East Midlands, Exeter and Leeds/Bradford.

Hope this helps,

Julia

Thanks Julia

I live in Essex, so unfortunately, those airports aren't good for me. I would need a flight from Heathrow or Southend.

I do not think there are any flights from Heathrow to Jersey, but I am be wrong. There are flights from Garwick with British Airways and from City Airport with Flybe.

You are right Jaya, you can't fly to Jersey from Heathrow but both BA and EasyJet fly from Gatwick with about 6-8 options daily.

Blue Islands go to London City and Aurigny go to Stansted. Flybe go to Southampton and also Bournemouth, Exeter and I think Bristol but some of their services come via Guernsey.

All the best

Good to have that information. I hope JY will be prepared to book indivdual flights, even f it means paying for a taxi between the airport and hotel.

Hi Mandy

Silly me - I got Flybe mixed up with Blue Islands! Flybe go to Isle of Man.
