I'm sure you will enjoy Calabria, Juliana. I went in May and had a very good time.
Calabria is a very non-touristy place where the shops are small and not geared up for tourists. Very few non-Italians seem to know about the region. Because of this credit cards are not widely used and it is cash only. There are ATMs in the bigger places we visited so you would be able to replenish the euros you had used up. Transport is included in the cost of the holiday - the only time you might have to pay is if you wanted to go to Cetrara, the nearby small town, in the hotel's minibus and that could be added to your hotel bill. In the hotel you can charge your morning coffee, afternoon tea etc to your room bill and pay at the end by credit card.
So the gist of this message is that it would not be easy to pay by credit card outside the hotel and you should take euros and your credit or debit card for use in ATMs if you need more money (letting your bank know in advance, of course, that you wil be abroad).
