I would like to go on the Austrian Lakes trip in August but I am daunted by having to get to Gatwick. I live near Leeds in Yorkshire and would like to fly from either Manchester or Leeds Bradford. Is anyone going on this holiday who is travelling from my area and could give me any advice?

hello and welcome, I have been on this tour a few years ago and it's a really nice tour to go on, I have used JY many times now so if you have any question please just ask.

many people who travel with JY make long journeys from Scotland Ireland and even Jersey to join up for a tour so you are not alone with travelling a long way. Does the train run from your way, or National Express coaches I think if you book through JY it's cheaper?,or JY does run a car service at a cost. Perhaps one of these ways would work for you.

I hope someone that makes a long journey answers your posting, I live very close to LHR, and LGW is only 40 mins away I am lucky in that respect, but I do have to put up with living in a populate heaving town area!

Good Luck

Hi Barbara

I did this trip in June last year and I live in Rossendale, Lancashire. It was my first time that I had been to Gatwick but it was quite easy to get there travelling on the train from Manchester to London Euston, tube to Victoria (although I could have got a taxi) and then the Gatwick Express. With the holiday starting on a Sunday I travelled down on the Saturday and stayed overnight at one of the hotels near the terminal.

I think that going by coach would have been a much longer journey and would have required a change at London Victoria Coach Station.

Hi Cindy

Thank you so much for your reply and advice. I'll get in touch with JY - I'm sure it won't be insurmountable. It was nice to hear from you. Regards. Barbara
