My new brochure arrived this morning. There are some good new holidays BUT all are long haul.!! I was hoping that some of them may have been European or at least a re-vamping of the existing ones .I am booked on JY trip number 12 in November and was hoping to go somewhere new in the mean time. Also I think that some of the new long hauls are too short for the distance and cost.

I quite agree with Sue2. Is Just You becoming too big,& going for all these long haul & exotic holidays?

The only French one offered is a short one to Albi (I won't fly from Heathrow)

Provence was available some years ago & there are many other delightful areas of France to visit.

So for me it doesn't look very promising for 2015 so I can only hope something else crops up.

I agree with JR and Sue2. Glad to see the new European ones will be in the September brochure. For health reasons I cannot do long haul, and JY's selection of European didn't appeal very much. That made the new brochure a big disappointment. Yes, I think JY are coming too big, and with the notable exception of Julia and the Community team have lost a great deal of the personal touch. I have found a much smaller company that does 90% of its holidays in Europe and have a couple booked with them this year. One at Christmas - their Christmas and NY brochure was out in late March - but then they are much smaller, but prices are not very different.

Having said that I am hoping the new JY brochure will be waiting for me when I get back from Discover Apulia in September. Can't wait to get my hands on that one.

Hi Julia

Can you please check if I am on mailing list for new brochure.

Thanks

Lesley

Hi Lesley,

It appears that at some point, you have been opted out of receiving marketing literature from us so weren't on the list. I have requested that a copy is put in the post for you today and you should receive it in the next day or so.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Julia,

I received my brochure yesterday and it seems to me that there's something for everyone in there.

For those who don't want to do long haul there's Italy, Croatia, Cyprus, Spain, Greece, Austria, Portugal, Turkey, 5 different European city breaks and, for those Francophiles, trips to Lille, Albi & Carcassonne and a Chateau weekend.

Personally, I'm mainly interested in the long haul holidays and I'm certainly spoiled for choice with trying to decide between Peru, Australia, Vietnam, Polar Bears and the new Namibia tour in 2015.

I see you've also reintroduced the Hawaii tour with the improvements that I (and I'm sure others) suggested after doing this trip last year, namely flying direct to San Diego with BA (instead of LHR to LA with United Airlines followed by coach transfer to San Diego) and swapping the number of nights on Oahu and Maui to incorporate a 4 night stay on beautiful Maui instead of 3.

So to summarise, the brochure gets a big thumbs up from me although I now have to decide whether to make my choices and book for 2015 now, or wait for the later brochure in September.

Will there be any more long haul destinations added to the September brochure and, if so, can you give us some clues as to what those might be? Or are you going to tease us between now and then??

Cheers

Mike

Hi I don't really understand where you are coming from as JY have a huge range of European/short haul holidays! A couple of years ago, they really cut back on their long haul tours and there was an outcry on the Forum, so they are really doing their best to have a good range of both short and long haul tours. As the old saying goes, you can't please everyone! I'm looking forward to the brochure arriving - even if I can't book a tour at present, it is always enjoyable to read through the tours and think, "perhaps...one day!"

Best wishes,

Bob

I've received the new brochure this morning. Long haul is not for me either because of not being able to get that amount of time off work.

I shall be interested to see what the 2 new Italian holidays are in the September brochure and seeing Dubrovnik as a Festive holiday gives me hope that JY might have that one for next year in the full brochure in September.

Mine has just arrived... thank you Julia 🙂

I love the sound of a lot of the places but particularly like the sound of Canada & The Rocky Mountaineer'...

If my first holiday with JY on the Classic Cities of Italy on 11th September is a success I'll be booking something for next year.

A cuppa and a good look through me thinks!!

Thanks JY!

Dear JY,

Oh what have you done to me? I had built up the courage and got all ready to book your Americas Golden West holiday as my first ever solo holiday in 2015, but now you've gone and put two more of my dream holidays in your 2015 brochure, The Ultimate Ranch Experience ( I'm a wannabe Cowboy ) and also the Sights and Sounds of the South ( Nashville and Graceland), oh decisions decisions!! This is going to be a long thinking process to decide which one I will do....but what an awesome dilemma to have!!

OH dear what a dilemma to have!!! there was I think YOU would definitely go for the Cowboy tour!!!!...I have been on the JY Nashville and Memohis tour a few years ago and I can thoroughly reckon end that tour...GOOD LUCK Choosing which tour

Cindy

Hey Cindy,

Yeah I'm 99% sure I will probably fulfil my dream of becoming a Cowboy!! Especially after reading awesome reviews of the ranch on Trip Advisor, rated the best in Arizona! Sounds ideal for those who haven't ever ridden a horse before, still got a feeling it's not going to be a popular holiday for the majority though:(

Hello Mark,

I have ridden a camel (Petra) and a donkey- Weston Super Mare , never a horse. This ranching holiday sounds ideal for the likes of a novice ie me

Arizona is a place I have always wanted to go to and this would be ideal. The dates are my problem, the only one I can manage due to other commitments would be January. See if I could wrangle it.

Jan.

I agree with Bob, I think JY has a big range of European holidays. I know that not all the short haul holidays may appeal to individual taste but the same goes for those who like long haul, it all depends on what you are looking for in a holiday.

I'm personally a long haul person but there are quite a few long haul holidays in the brochure that have no appeal to me. I look for somewhere where the culture is completely different from our own because I love to see how other people live, learn a bit about their beliefs and religions and experience eating different food, so places like the US for instance wouldn't appeal to me, but there are others who have great holidays in the States and wouldn't choose the type of holiday I enjoy.

JY covers a good range of European countries, I don't think they are getting too big, they have a great team trying to put together holidays that will appeal to a wide range of people with different ideas of what they want from a holiday.

Hiya Jan,

I've done exactly the same, camels and donkeys! Don't think my camel was called Petra though! It spat at me, gave me the hump!!;) it does sound a perfect ranch for novices. Unfortunately January is the one I couldn't do, I was looking at the October one. 'See if I could wrangle it', was that an intended pun? ;)

I was not commenting on the amount of short haul, there are lots of them but on the content. They are much the same as previous and I was hoping some might have had something new added. Maybe I have travelled too much and have got spoilt:D
