Hi, I'm new to travelling alone and have decided to take the plunge for a very big birthday next year. Booked for Istanbul, Troy and Ephesus for April 2014. I'd love to hear from anyone who has been on a holiday or who may be going on this trip next April.

Cheers

Hello Gina and welcome

I have not been on this tour, but I am sure you will have a great time, I have been on many JY tours they are great fun, you see such amazing sights while away and meet some interesting people, have fun, if there are any questions about travelling with JY then just ask and I will try and answer. have fun.

Hi Gina

I got back from this holiday yesterday. It was absolutely fabulous and next to the outstanding locations and the Turkish people those I travelled with were the best thing about it. None of us knew one another before we went but everyone was easy going, friendly and fun in a group of diverse ages and backgrounds. Unless you have been before I would recommend the additional day excursion to Topkapi Palace and boat trip up the Bosphorus - you won't regret it. Either way it will be an amazing trip.

Hello and welcome Gina

This is one trip which is on my list of destinations to visit. Hopefully I may be able to do this trip next year as I have already booked my two holidays for this year - both short haul destinations in Europe. Do post a review on your arrival back from the trip as I am very interested to know all about it.

Hi, Gina...

I've just spontaneously booked with JY for the first time on this tour in April too! Such good things said about it - I'm really looking forward to it.

I went on this tour last year and recommend it highly, with the minor proviso that every day was very fully organised. There was not much time for relaxation. If you have the same tour manager as we had you will enjoy his profound knowledge and kindness immensely: he was Turkish and his name is Ugur pronounced Oooor. If you have the time and inclination before you go to do a bit of reading about the history of Istanbul, The WW1 Gallipoli campaign, and ancient Greece at the time of Troy and Ephesus you will gain a lot. Lastly, I am a vegetarian and Ugur was always able to arrange for me to have suitable meals. Have fun! I did.
